In Tokyo we will the beautiful city of Tokyo which may include visit shrines, temples, and shopping centers; learn a traditional craft through pottery. We will travel by train, canal, air, and bus to some of the world’s most amazing glittering crystal trees at the Venetian glass museum; wear yukata (traditional cotton kimonos) while eating a delicious kaiseki dinner; walk among the whimsical sculptures of the Open-Air Museum; and soak in the milky waters of a natural hot spring. In Kyoto, we learn first-hand how to wear a kimono; visit Kiyumisu temple; and stroll through thousands of scarlet Torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine. In Hiroshima, we pay our respects at the Peace Park and Museum. We also visit nearby Miajima Island where we ride a cable car up Mt. Misen for the glorious views; meet the local deer and take selfies with the famous Floating Tori Gate, and more.
Get to know the authentic ‘Kitchen of Japan’. We eat plenty of delicious food and get to know lots of fun including go karts, both locals and expats.
If you are on the group flight, it will arrive at Haneda Airport where you will be picked up and driven directly to our hotel in Tokyo. The English-speaking driver of the private van will be holding a sign for easy access. After you check in and have a chance to freshen up, we walk the short distance to a nearby restaurant for dinner. If you are not on the group flight, you will make your own way to the hotel (although I will be available to help).

In the city center, Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo is in Shinjuku, a walkable area in Tokyo with great airport proximity. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Hibiya Park, while Ghibli Museum and Zepp Tokyo are cultural highlights. Traveling with kids? Make time for Tokyo Tower or check out an event or a game at Tokyo National Olympic Stadium. Guests love the hotel's convenience to public transportation: Tochomae Station is 3 minutes by foot and Nishi-shinjuku Station is 7 minutes.
