• Other shorebirds and waders may include White-faced Ibis, Red Knot (spring), Sanderling, Wilson’s Phalarope, Red-necked Phalarope, American Avocet, Black-necked Stilt, Marbled Godwit, Hudsonian Godwit, Stilt Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Baird’s Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Short-billed Dowitcher, Lesser Yellowlegs, Willet, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Killdeer.

• Possible Grassland birds include Upland Sandpiper, Long-billed Curlew, Lark Bunting, Baird’s Sparrow, Chestnut-collared Longspur, Western Meadowlark.

You pick up guide in your personal or rented vehicle and drive to the Meeting Point in the town of Chaplin, Saskatchewan.

Your guide will direct you to the best locations on public roads to observe and/or photograph shorebirds.

We normally break for lunch near a lake where flocks of shorebirds, ducks and other birds occur. You can bring your own lunch or stop at a gas station or grocery to pick up food.

After lunch we will explore additional shorebird hotspots and look for White-faced Ibis and Black-necked Stilt. We may also find Ferruginous Hawks and other prairie birds.. The tour ends about 5 pm when we head back to the starting point.
