Plan:
This morning, we head out early to attend the colorful and bustling Bac Ha tribal market, a fantastic opportunity for portraits of local life. The market is a treasure trove of opportunities for vibrant people photography, as well as colorful imagery using the textiles and patterns on display in the many stalls.
After lunch in Bac Ha town, our journey continue with exploring minority villages with their tradition handicraft highlight. About Bac Ha, a plateau in the foothills of the mountains, renowned for its white horses. The horses are an important part of working life, cuisine, and even a popular racing event for the local minorities. It's common to come across the horses in the mountains and valleys around Bac Ha, where they are especially used for transporting chopped wood or harvested crops on steep trails. Today we have an afternoon plan for hiking, trekking and discovering villages where local people produce home-made corn wine and handicrafts. And there will be plenty of opportunities to photograph their daily life and visit their homes. During this walk, we will be accompanied by our Hmong friend and local guide, who will be able to give us a deeper insight into the lives of the local community, and a welcome into their homes.
At the sun goes down, we head our way to Bac Ha town and arrive in late afternoon, when the mists often fall as locals return home, offering atmospheric and ghostly images. Checking in our Eco homestay and having a home-cooked dinner prepared by our H'mong host.
