After breakfast, to Madaba to visit St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, where the Madaba Map is a map of the Middle East. Part of it contains the oldest surviving original cartographic depiction of the Holy Land and especially Jerusalem. It dates to the 6th century AD. Then drive Mt. Nebo is the memorial of Prophet Moses where God told him he would not see the Promised Land. Later we head to visit Machaerus, where John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded.
Then we proceed to visit Kerak castle, It is recorded that the Crusader King Baldwin I of Jerusalem had the castle built in 1132 CE. With its location midway between Shobak and Jerusalem, Karak became the capital of the Crusader district of Oultrejourdain.
We later proceed Wadi Rum: Tonight you are in for something spectacular. Famous movies filmed here; Matt Damon The Martian, Star Wars 9, Lawrence of Arabia.
After we arrive to Rum we’ll go exploring the Martian like desert in a 4X4 pick up for a couple of hours, later we arrive to the camp (and we bet you’re hungry by then) for a Bedouin specialty dinner: ZARB. What’s that you may ask? Well, it’s a mix of meat like lamb and chicken, rice, potatoes and carrots, placed in a hole in the ground, which is filled with flaming coals. The hole is then covered, and after a few hours, the meat and rice are all smoked, steamed, and grilled, all at the same time!
After dinner, you’re in for another treat; you’ll be sleeping in a Martian tent. Star Gazing in bed. What’s a Martian Tent you ask? In short: it’s a tent where you can sleep and stargaze at the same time of course! I told you you’re in for something spectacular!
