I found a flyer for this trip at my barbershop and took a leap of faith in signing up. I knew nothing about Avery, Kiki or G and hadn't so much as looked at an instagram page before going. I also have never spent intentional dedicated time in a retreat-like setting in a group exclusively designed to center the queer and trans experience. I left the retreat feeling so nourished and connected; I have experienced firsthand the power that is healing in community. My posture literally changed from taking the time to breathe and allow myself to practice opening yoga poses. I loved how thoughtfully the schedule was planned; there was a balance of structured group time and LOTS of free time to enjoy the hidden gem that is Mixto and the surrounding community in Quimixto. As someone with a lot of allergies and dietary restrictions I was so grateful for the care that went into ensuring I could safely enjoy the meals that were freshly prepared for us daily. Overall, this retreat was the hard reset my nervous system desperately needed. I made new friends that I will cherish forever and laughed more in one week than I have this entire year. Thank you G, Avery, and Kiki for all of the time, energy, thoughtfulness, and care that went into facilitating this space for us. <3

This was my fourth retreat with Avery as the organizer, and first time with Kiki and G as co-organizers - as I have experienced in the past, this retreat as a whole was an undeniably magical, reflective, inspirational, and relaxing experience. The mindful end-to-end planning integrated socially responsible travel, intersectional accessibility, and prioritized including people of many lineages/ages/geographies/social locations to support a culturally conscious, radically queer, and social-justice oriented holistic community space. There is a very intentional blend of structured group time as well as space for personal freedom to choose what you need to get the most out of your experience. The location of the Mixto retreat was perfection - logistics, planning, and communication were smooth and reduced much of the stress associated with travel. We were so well taken care of, the area is beautiful and serene. And the accommodations, staff on site, and food were exceptional. If you’re interested in learning more about whether or not this retreat is for you, or have any doubts about financial accessibility, do not hesitate to visit their website and/or reach out to Avery to ask about what options are available to support you in attending. In all the retreats I have attended, I have only heard from other attendees that this was a worthy investment for their personal growth and wellbeing - from a financial, emotional, or time perspective. I can’t recommend this organizer, and this team enough!

Wonderful yoga retreat experience! Yoga and meditation practices were outstanding. Instructors experienced and very encouraging. Accommodations very nice, AC would have made them fantastic. Better maintenance of building encouraged. Food plentiful and very fresh.
