co-LAB was formed in 2016 by three women of color consultants collaborating on race equity and leadership development, movement building, and organizational transformation work. Our approach is informed by our work with innovation, emotional justice, mindfulness, embodiment, change management, complexity, group dynamics, and liberation and equity. We are core faculty for Move to End Violence, The Rockwood Leadership Institute, and The Strozzi Institute.

co-LAB's Radical Sabbatical is salve for leaders who give their all to movement work and are in desperate need of permission to reinvest in their own sustainability. What a powerful intervention to strengthen movement work, by fortifying those who make it possible. I left not only relaxed and inspired, but with a plan to make changes so that I can show up every day and bring my full self to my work for the long-term. Without investing my myself and fortifying my spirit, I cannot bring my best decision making, most creative potential, and kindest spirit to the community I serve.

I came into this experience not knowing what to expect, just with a sense that I needed to take a chance for myself. I wanted to gain clarity, have time to feel and think after a particularly rough end of 2025. I have also been experiencing several years of steady burnout from movement work and from intense caregiving. All I can say is that I am so grateful that I trusted your alls vision of radical rest. It opened up a whole world of ideas and hope for all the possibilities. The work I do is for care workers and it felt so loving and powerful to be on the receiving end of that care. The low pressure, open invitation for the guided and unguided rest was mind blowing to me. The way all the senses were tended to. Also, there was a familiarity, leaving me reminded that I too know how to engage and offer rest. I have been listening to the playlists non-stop (I'm actually listening to one right now). Since returning I wake up, make a tea, put on the playlist, journal from the prompts offered, and ease my heart and mind into my day. The somatic release with Viveka did something really healing for me. The serendipitous conversation I had with Maura and Ayoka made me realize that I was definitely not alone. The warmest of greetings and connection with Monica put me so much at ease when I knew that I didn't know anyone at first. You have cultivated a beautiful team, and I loved how you all incorporated the healing expertise of locals practitioners. The porch conversations were so sweet. I made a list of everyone's hobbies and continue to add to that list. The bomba evening really connected us to our ancestors and reminded me how deeply rooted in resistance we all are. As someone who suffers from chronic pain, it was a week where that pain melted away and I could really truly rest. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it now. This was a life changing experience and I haven't even processed how in all the ways yet. From my heart to yours, thank you.

It was really beautiful and easeful. I loved the accommodations and the proximity to the villa-- the right amount of community and privacy. I think arranging for snack or other items pick up before coming to the location or knowing how to do that would have been helpful information. I know it was in the communication but may have been helpful in terms of coordinating travel (e.g. I may have come in earlier to try and stop somewhere) or maybe just doing one run after everyone was there (that may have happened and I may have missed it). My only challenges were with travel due to weather-- which is not something under anyone's control. Food was DELICIOUS esp the Mofongo.

I had an amazing time being in community with all the attendees and I appreciated the overall structure and format in addition to offerings that were provided by the facilitators. They were amazing hosts and ensured I had a seamless and restful experience.
