About this trip

Rails Camp is an annual summer gathering for the software community to meet and learn from each other while getting out of the city to unplug around a campfire.


This year we'll be heading to Camp K on Kenai Lake, just outside of Cooper Landing, Alaska.


What’s included

  • Lodging
    Majority of lodging is shared, 12 bunks per cabin. You can choose to be in a room with 2, 4, or 8 people. There are also camping spots and a couple private cabins available.
  • All Meals
    Meals are served buffet-style and feature locally-grown food whenever possible. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
  • Activities
    Swimming (cold), kayak/canoe, hiking and trail running, arts, outdoor survival classes, fishing, more to come!
  • DIY unconference
    Casual talks throughout the day, 100% community organized.

What’s not included

  • Flights
    To/from Anchorage, Alaska
  • Snacks
    We will have some sponsored snacks and fruit, but bring your own snacks for in between provided meals.
  • Beverages beyond water
    We will have the bus stop on the way to camp to pick up any drinks needed.

This is the price per person to share a cabin with 8 attendees (filling only bottom bunks for extra space, cabins can hold over 12 people).

Lodged Out retreats (producer of Rails Camp West) were created to strip away the noise of daily life and devices. They exist to bring like-minded people to the mountains, so together we can immerse ourselves in an experience filled with outdoor play, experiential learning, and inspiring conversations.

It was absolutely unique. The idea to put a bunch of techies in the wilderness and Let them pass the time doing outdoor activities, board games, ddr and karaoke was more bonding than any other techco ference could try to attempt with their ice breakers.
