Journey through the UNESCO-listed medieval towns of Ávila and Segovia, set in the mountains just 70 miles northwest of Madrid. Our home base for the first three nights is the walled city of Ávila, where history meets tranquility. From here, we’ll explore the elegant red wines of San Martín de Valdeiglesias and the crisp whites of Rueda.
In Segovia, marvel at the 1st-century Roman aqueduct, stretching nearly 3,000 feet across the city, and indulge in an authentic “lechazo” (roast suckling lamb) feast — a true gastronomic highlight.
For the second half of our tour, we move north to the magnificent town of Burgos, the former capital of Castilla y León for over five centuries. Known for its stunning Gothic cathedral and position along the Camino de Santiago, Burgos offers the perfect setting for our wine adventures. From here, we’ll take a day trip into the heart of Ribera del Duero, where Tempranillo reigns supreme, and taste some of Spain’s most elegant and full-bodied red wines.

Today, we turn our attention to Rafael and his charming, family-run vineyard. Expect heartfelt stories, a lot of tradition and a glimpse into life lived close to the vines.
As the day winds down, we’ll make our way to Ávila, arriving just in time to watch the sunset paint the legendary medieval walls—the best preserved in all of Europe. Our boutique hotel, tucked within those ancient walls, sets the scene for a magical evening.
At Tierra Calma, you’ll discover vines so old they seem to whisper history. Their resilience and depth are reflected in every glass you’ll taste.
To complete the day, Rafael will treat us to his famous paella, cooked with the same passion he brings to his wines—a perfect expression of Spanish hospitality.
There’s something truly magical about Segovia—its fairytale skyline, elegant streets, and centuries of history come together to create an atmosphere that feels timeless.
We’ll dine at a beloved local institution, famous for its perfectly roasted cochinillo asado (suckling pig)—crisp on the outside, tender within, and utterly unforgettable. You may not feel hungry again for quite some time!
Actually, today is about a lot of culture. We’ll visit the Monastery and Royal Site of El Escorial, a magnificent symbol of Spain’s Golden Age — when art, architecture, and exploration flourished under royal patronage.
After our visit, we’ll enjoy a cheese tasting and a relaxed lunch in the charming village of El Escorial, savoring local flavors and a true taste of Castile.
Later, the evening is yours to wander Ávila at your own pace — stroll its cobblestone streets, explore hidden corners within the city walls, or find a cozy spot for a quiet glass of wine.
The Roman villa we’ll visit today was only recently “discovered” by a local farmer, and its remarkably preserved mosaics are nothing short of stunning — a window into ancient life that feels almost untouched by time.
At Miguel’s small winery, you’ll instantly feel at ease. His warmth and passion transcend any language barrier. His handcrafted Verdejo wines are expressive, elegant, and a world apart from the mass-produced versions you may have tasted before.
We’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Miguel’s village, where the hospitality is as memorable as the food. Don’t be surprised if you find it hard to say goodbye at the end of this perfect afternoon.
Today we’ll get acquainted with Burgos, a city rich in history and charm. We’ll explore its magnificent Gothic cathedral, a masterpiece of Spanish architecture, and take time to wander through the old town’s lively streets and squares.
This afternoon, prepare for a remarkable culinary fusion — a creative pairing of Spanish and Mexican flavors that promises to surprise and delight your palate.
The Epifania brothers have been crafting wine for generations, and their experience shines through in every glass. Their Tempranillos are beautifully balanced and silky-smooth — exactly what one hopes for from this noble grape. With a bit of luck, we may even taste some wines straight from the tank, a rare treat for true wine lovers.
In this region, it’s almost a rite of passage to enjoy lechazo — tender, slow-roasted lamb that defines the cuisine of Castilla y León. Today, we’ll savor this local specialty in its most authentic form.
After breakfast, we’ll make our way back to Madrid.
We expect to arrive at Barajas Airport around noon, followed by a transfer to Atocha Train Station.
If you’re flying back to the U.S., please schedule your departure for 2:00 p.m. or later to allow for a relaxed and stress-free connection.
