About this trip

Join us for Re:Source, an Ecstatic Dance & Mindfulness Retreat, at the renowned Eagle's Nest in beautiful Lake Atitlan, Guatemala in January of 2020.

Featuring world class facilitators, DJ's, and instructors from a variety of disciplines, this intimate gathering offers an opportunity to dive deep in to movement & dance, while also exploring a myriad of meditation & mindfulness practices.

Overlooking magical Lake Atitlan in San Marcos, Guatemala, our venue, Eagle's Nest, features  stunning views & a dance floor that is in a class by itself (don't just take my word for it, please check out the photos ... it's a special place).  Organic, vegetarian meals are included in this all-inclusive retreat.

Re:Source  A place to explore inner & outer landscapes., and to celebrate life.  All you have to do is show up!

We look forward to seeing you at The Lake.  :)

Ecstatic Dance

Ecstatic Dance is a open format where you, the dancer are encouraged to discover yourself in motion. There's a powerful place that is accessed when we drop out of the mind and into free form dance, we connect into a "no-mind" space and find ourselves being danced rather than dancing.  This is a place of great liberation and peace, a place that is always there waiting for us.  Ecstatic Dance at Re:Source takes place on the dance platform overlooking the lake & volcanoes, and has a top notch sound system.  Three internationally recognized Ecstatic Dance DJ's (bios below) will lead daily dance journeys throughout the week.

Bronwyn Ayla // Contact Improv

A dance of connection, Contact Improvisation shows us how we are as relational beings. It is an investigation into an embodied self, connecting and responding to another. This improvised dance form encourages us to be precisely in the present moment and engenders empowered participation in the discovery of relatedness. It is the practice of connecting with your environment and responding to it with movement in a way that aligns with the inner self.

Scott Howard // Breema

Breema® is a simple, natural form of touch and body movement supported by universal principles. The aim of Breema is to bring us to a tangible experience of presence that becomes our foundation for a new dimension of health, consciousness, and self-understanding.

Breema provides a unique approach to experiencing body-mind connection. It offers a profound understanding of the underlying unity of all life that is expressed in a dynamic and practical philosophy, the key to which is found in the Nine Principles of Harmony. The practice of Self-Breema exercises and Breema bodywork is a living expression of that philosophy through the vehicle of the body.

The nonjudgmental atmosphere created by our use of the Principles is deeply nourishing and enables us to let go of conditioned patterns, so that we can connect to new and more natural ways of moving, thinking, and feeling. Breema’s Principles can be integrated and applied in any profession and in all activities of daily life, helping us bring greater harmony to all our relationships.

Wendy Phares // Soul Motion™

This practice is about waking up to your most essential nature.  The only discipline it requires is to show up and be true to the part of ourselves that is committed to moving.  Embracing Soul Motion™ as a dancing meditation practice is an effective way to free the body, to express the heart, and to empty out the mind.  When coming from that place of being connected with your essence, the soul is empowered and you can experience your most expansive and liberated self.

Scott Nice // Ecstatic Dance

DJ/Producer/Student of the Turntable and a friend to all animals, Northern California producer Scott Nice brings the listeners mind and heart into a flowing adventure through world music colors, sounds of the jungle, and dance music aesthetics. This is art rooted in indigenous cultures and traditions; the vibrations find a home in nature’s resplendent environs. Nice, a former turntablist who has logged time in the skateboard and snowboard industries, returned to making music with a newfound clarity and focus following health challenges that saw him stop making music for an extended period. Through inner journey and personal triumph, Nice has arrived at an exotic cross-section of styles, yet maintains a sound all his own.

Mose // Ecstatic Dance

Mose spends much of his time in Guatemala where cacao ceremonies, kirtan, and ecstatic dance have had a major influence on his productions and DJ style. It is here on Lake Atitlan that he founded the weekly SunSet Cacao Dances where members of the community have the opportunity to journey deep into dance in a container of deep intention free of alcohol. Having been nomadic since 2011, he has developed a sound all his own through interaction with cultures from around the world. He finds a way to fuse the organic elements of tribal traditions with modern production techniques in order to create an entrancing journey for both relaxed listeners and those eager to move their bodies.
