About this trip

Here’s your invite to escape the job, the care-taking, the computer, and all the adulting. Here’s your chance to head to the hills and get back to yourself.

Mid-life can be a breakdown or a breakthrough. We have a choice: desperately squeeze ourselves into a tighter, younger, and more confining box, or finally call BS. Stop buying into not being enough. Stop being so mean to ourselves. Stop scrolling for ways to “fix” ourselves. Finally stop giving our power away.

Instead of playing by all the “rules”, let’s write our own. Let’s slow down enough to feel what feeds us and what moves us.

Here’s how we’ll make it happen:

Twice-daily movement medicine classes will shed crusty layers of stress, declutter the mind, and build strength. Afterwards, we’ll feast on the local summer bounty created by our private chef. Beautiful, delicious, and healthy meals will be served…and you don’t even have to do any dishes!

With guidance from some of my favorite local experts, we’ll learn about hormonal health and herbal skin care, and I’ll teach you how to DIY your own woo-woo with tarot. We’ll hike on the Appalachian Trail and return to a restorative massage. There will be plenty of downtime for naps, reading, or simply listening to the river.

We’ll set up camp at Paint Rock Farm in Hot Springs, NC, which sits atop a spectacular bluff overlooking the national forest and the French Broad River. You can  make yourself at home in a beautiful glamping cabin overlooking the river or across the mountain meadow among the wildflowers. We’ll gather in an artfully restored tobacco barn for classes, family-style meals, and lounging on the patio for happy hour.

If you crave less screen time and more dream time, we’ve got the Adirondack chairs, the campfire, and the fireflies to (re)spark your awe. Come for some deep breaths of mountain air, to commune with an awesome group of women, and to find your inner mountain mama.

*This event is open to cis, trans, and queer women. Non-binary and minority genders are welcome—basically, if herbal skin care routines and managing estrogen levels interest you, come on down!

Wonderful location, food and people. I am not used to drinking alcohol and eating dessert every night but I would do it all over again as a once in a year treat. Definitely appreciated the oven cooked pork(?), making tagliatelle and the hiking. The steep hike really surprised me at first but now that I look back I'm really glad it was in the itinerary. I would look forward to it or a similar adventure next time.

This trip was nothing short of AMAZING!! Yogi Sadie is a skilled, empathetic and humorous yoga instructor but that was only a one aspect of what made this trip special. The exquisite farm to table meals, the impeccable wine pairings, the history-filled venue and the flawless blend of structured and unstructured activities created a perfect environment for new friendships to be forged and existing relationships to be strengthened. It was magical!

This was my third retreat with Sadie, Alice, and Danilo, and it was even more awesome than the previous two (which were also awesome). Following tradition, the retreat kicked off with a dinner at Erba Brusca, Alice and Danilo’s farm-to-table restaurant. The meal was incredibly delicious. It was also a time to connect with my fellow travelers. The next day, we headed down to Peralta, our home for the week. Dripping with sculpture from the artist Fiore who created Peralta in the 1960s. Each cottage was unique and special. We settled in to a routine….yoga from Sadie twice a day, meals by Alice and her sidekick Harriet, and wine served with just the right amount of knowledge imparted to us by Danilo. All were excellent. I came for the yoga, and it was wonderful to have in-person yoga with Sadie again. Outings included a hike to an organic farm with a lovely lunch, olive oil and wine tasting in town, and a visit to the marble museum. The weather was rainy, so we mostly nestled in to Peralta with cooking classes from Alice and Harriet and a tarot card session with Sadie. My fellow travelers were a fun and easy going, which was great. I can’t say enough good things about this retreat. Sadie, Alice, and Danilo bring such care, enthusiasm, and intelligence to planning the trip that you know you are in good hands. Thank you!

Once again, Sadie and team hosted a wonderful week of expansive and grounding yoga, amazing food/wine, lots of laughter, and time for exploring and chilling by the Ligurian sea. Sadie has been an inspiration and resource for me for many years now. Her approach to yoga and health is accessible and challenging. I'm looking forward to continuing my yoga practice, and hopefully many future yoga retreats, with Sadie.
