As our modern lives shift dramatically indoors and technology changes our lives forever, we are more connected to everyone on social media than Mother Nature.
A large body of research is documenting the positive impact of being in nature or exposed to nature - from social, psychological and emotional life. Studies show being in nature leads to reduced stress levels, blood pressure, strengthen immune system, boost of energy, mood, creativity, concentration and behavioural changes that improve mood and general well-being
Discover the healing power of this rainforest wellness retreat at Cove 55, a boutique resort nestled at the foot of mighty Mount Santubong in Kuching, Sarawak.
This experiential retreat is developed specifically to invigorate, reset and reconnect to ourselves through twice daily yoga, meditation, breath-work, nutritious food, nature walks and wellness workshops, guiding you for a lifetime of optimal wellbeing.
Daily sunrise vinyasa and evening restorative practices will be held by the pool or at the exquisite covered deck with ocean views over the South China Sea. With carefully sequenced poses, the asana practices are weaved together with gentle unwinding movements and breath-work.
Detailed alignment, sensory awareness and mindfulness is emphasised to encourage deep listening towards a compassionate understanding of one’s own mind-body connection. The overall intent is to cultivate prajna (insight and wisdom) within the yoga experience - on and off the mat.
Classes are suitable for all levels and modifications of poses will be given as needed.
All meals would be served in Kechala, a restaurant showcasing creative and evolving menus featuring modern Sarawakian cuisine flavours. Chef Andrew Fletcher will be using indigenous herbs and sustainably sourced local produce.
Fresh and flavourful ingredients unique to Kuching are foraged from the surrounding rainforests and Cove 55’s very own organic kitchen garden where seasonal ingredients are hand picked daily to create the freshest innovative dishes
Discover the natural beauty of the Sarawak Rainforest in this captivating trek at the foothills of Mount Santubong. The clearly marked trail winds its way through the rainforest, passes jungle streams, dip pools and waterfalls. Seen from sea level, its irregular rainforest-covered peaks rise steeply to 810m forming a catchment for a variety of wildlife.
During two of the wellness workshops presented, you will get to explore the subtle processes of breath, movement, and mindfulness that happen inside each of you.
Learn about the physiological processes that occur with breathing, over-breathing, and how to adjust it, as well as work to combing breath with movement and mindfulness. It is how you breathe during your daily life that determines how you breathe under more strenuous times such as stress or physical exercise.
