About this trip

Imagine a perfect summer’s day: sipping a freshly brewed coffee with the morning sun already kissing your skin. A delicious yoga practice under a canopy of trees. The sound of a flowing river easing you into an afternoon nap. The afterglow of a blissful massage treatment. Laughing over dinner with a group of like-minded people, all enjoying the same thing. Nestled in oak woodland, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves is a little oasis where all of this happens.

We’re always so busy going to work, socialising and rushing around from A to B, that we often forget we’re human beings, not human doings. This is a chance to truly enjoy a holiday to get away from all the doing, and simply get back to being you.

Accommodation

We’ll be spending five nights amongst lush green gardens filled with flowers, fruit and vegetables (that will be lovingly turned into food), wooden hand-carved outbuildings, hammocks to laze in, an outdoor shala to practice yoga in and a shaded outdoor table to eat at. Over six, soul-refilling days you can expect pool time, peace, quiet and general, all-round loveliness.

The emphasis in this little corner of the world is rest and regeneration with a fun, calm vibe. The accommodation strives for sustainability, using permaculture methods for the garden, recycling and compost loos.

Sleeping accommodation will be in spacious shared bell tents or a larger Mongolian yurts, all furnished with comfortable beds, coconut floor-matting (bell tents) or hardwood flooring (yurt). You’ll have access to well-equipped outdoor kitchens, including a small fridge. Each tent has its own compost loo, and there’s even electricity to charge your phone when you need to, or if you want to!

Yoga Practice

Our days will start with pranayama (breath work) followed by movement to music, and a yoga practice of Hatha Flow. The evenings will be Yin yoga, which is a more meditative style with longer held poses, slow-flow or guided meditations. One of the best things about retreat life, is having  time to delve into things you might not normally be able to. We’ll have a an asana clinic workshop, where we break down some postures to help you deepen your practice, as well as a workshop on self-care and self-development.

All of this will be practiced on a wooden yoga deck in the forest behind the house.

Massage

As part of our mission to help you restore your energy and replenish your body, you’ll be offered a treatment from osteopath, Anna Ziskoven.  Besides relief for pains, aches and discomfort, her treatments offer a space to rest and restore, to find a still-point in our fast paced lives. The physical body is a part of the whole person within a bigger picture. It accompanies us in all phases, transitions and initiations of life, where we face different experiences, challenges and joys. On the way, Anna loves to offer space for healing, support, empowerment and wellbeing.

Anna is a fully qualified Osteopath and registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

Food

All food on the retreat will be vegetarian (with vegan options) and will be made on site by our lovely host, Ella, using organic ingredients either from the garden or the local area. All teas, juices etc are also included in the price.

Excursions and local area

One thing you won’t be short on is time to relax, or ideas on how to do it! We’ll have an optional sunrise walk to a sweet little spot along the river where we’ll greet the day with meditation, swim and picnic, which is included in the price.

There’s plenty to do in and around Uzès such as visiting the thriving market, the local castle with panoramic views of the gorgeous countryside surrounding Uzès or the Pont du Gard (a UNESCO listed Roman aqueduct where you can also swim). There’s also the cute town of St. Quentain-La-Poiterie which famous for artisanal pottery,  the crystal clear waters of  Fontain de Vacluse, rock-climbing or canoeing down the river Gardon.

About us

Hey you!

We're Nat and Sim, a British-German couple who've been running yoga retreats together for the last couple of years. With over 700 hours of Yoga Alliance certified training between us, we're super passionate about sharing the magic of yoga, self-care and self-development.

For Nat, yoga is a way of getting to know who we really are, once we get past the upbringing we’ve had, the circumstances we’re presently in or the idea of who we want to be. It’s a place where we can experience inner strength, resilience, balance and freedom. Her biggest passion is helping you to find yours because we all deserve to love the lives we’re living.

Simon grew up in Southern Bavaria with two buddhist, hippy parents, developing an early connection and fascination with eastern spirituality and philosophy. Spiritual practice, self-care, ayurvedic nutrition and fitness were some of the tools he used to recover from burnout, and he’ll be bringing his passion for pranayama, meditation and heart-led human interaction to our retreat.
