My trip to Peru began in Cusco, where I spent the first two days battling relentless headaches from the high altitude—despite sipping coca tea regularly. The only relief I found was in the serene atrium garden of my hotel, where the lush greenery seemed to offer a concentrated dose of oxygen and a much-needed break from the discomfort. Thankfully, this trip was thoughtfully organized by Michelle, who partnered with an experienced local guide and curated a transformative experience. She knew that Willka T’ika would be the perfect grounding space for the next six days—and she couldn’t have been more right. Everything shifted the moment I arrived at Willka T’ika, a breathtaking yoga retreat center nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley. I was welcomed with fresh herbs and coca leaves to brew tea throughout the day, and almost immediately, my headaches began to ease. I soon realized that sipping the tea wasn’t just helpful during the day—it was essential at night, too. This simple, natural ritual helped me finally feel like myself again. Willka T’ika was everything I didn’t know I needed. The property is home to seven stunning Chakra Gardens, each a peaceful sanctuary where I could wander, reflect, and reconnect. There were multiple yoga shalas for daily practice, nourishing farm-to-table meals, and a range of soulful experiences—from guided hikes and shaman blessings to cacao ceremonies that stirred something deep within. Two standout moments were the evening flower bath, a soothing ritual of pure bliss, and the rainbow crystal light therapy, which guided me into one of the most restful, healing sleeps I’ve had in years. Thanks to Michelle’s incredibly detailed planning, I experienced a perfect balance of adventure and restoration. She selected hikes that kept me challenged, and offered daily opportunities for yoga, meditation, sound healing, forest bathing, and more. Along the way, I developed a deep appreciation for a culture that honors and gives thanks to Pachamama—Mother Earth. I received sacred blessings for my past and future self, and finally checked Machu Picchu off my bucket list!! I truly can’t say enough about my time at Willka T’ika. For the first time on a trip, I found myself thinking, “I don’t just want to come back—I want to start my next journey right here.” Peru is a magical place in every way—but it was Michelle’s vision and Willka T’ika’s heartfelt offerings that made this journey truly unforgettable.

Michelle is by far one of the best yoga instructors I've ever had. In addition, she's so kind and sweet. My first class with her was at LA fitness 8 years ago and I never forgot how good she was. Years later, I stumbled into one of her classes at the Ymca and I was so happy to find her. Then, I was lucky enough to participate in her Pura Vida retreat in Costa Rica this year. It was an amazing experience for me. She planned the trip so well. In addition to yoga, she had so many other physical and social activities planned for us. Her energy is so pure, vibrant, and infectious, that everywhere we went became alive. In addition, she drew the most amazing group of people into her practice and to this yoga retreat. I am grateful to have made so many friends through Root 2 Rise yoga and I look forward to many more retreats, hikes, yoga classes and/ or anything else Michelle plans for us. I would recommend Root 2 Rise yoga to anybody -Ani A
