Belize

Belize has become a destination for adventure-seekers of all kinds. On land, you can hike, canoe, kayak, cave, bird and explore ruins. At sea, the diving steals the show. The Belize Barrier Reef, part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world, is home to hundreds of species of fish and corals. This is the perfect destination for new or experienced divers!

The Diving

Minimum dive certification/experience: PADI Open Water Diver can be completed on trip. PADI Enriched Air/Nitrox certification strongly recommended. Deep Diver recommended for Blue Hole dive.

Belize is a wall diver's paradise. Sheer walls like Painted Wall, Half Moon Caye Wall and Quebrada are adorned with huge crimson gorgonians and giant orange elephant ear sponges. Moray eels, spiny lobsters and tiny arrow crabs hide in every crack, crevice, cave and tunnels of these beautiful coral formations. The mystical Blue Hole, a collapsed freshwater cave system is approximately 1000 feet across and over 400 feet deep. The Blue Hole was made famous by ocean pioneer Jacques-Yves Cousteau who declared it one of the Top Ten Dive Sites in the World.

Every Saturday at 6 pm, the boat casts off from the Radisson Ft. George dock, located in the heart of downtown Belize City for a week of hassle-free diving. Diving begins Sunday morning and ends Friday before lunch when we return to port. Sunday through Thursday there is unlimited diving throughout the day and a night dive each evening.  Friday a half day of diving is offered.

Water temperature averages around 80 F degrees, so a 3mm wetsuit is recommended. All dives are from the yacht although a 15 ft tender is available to take guests for optional shore excursions (1-2) during the week.

The Belize Aggressor IV

The Belize Aggressor IV is a 138’ yacht with a wide 26’ beam which sleeps 20 guests. Built and powered for comfort, safety and stability, she is diesel-powered, cruises at 12 knots and has 110-volt power onboard. The dive deck has individual dive lockers, a camera table with low-pressure air hoses and two hot, fresh water showers.

All staterooms are air-conditioned and fitted with a private toilet, shower, sink, hair dryer and robes. Breakfast (cooked to order), buffet lunch and an elegant meal at dinner with tableside service are served in addition to fresh mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Fantastic trip, amazing diving at a lovely resort with experienced dive masters and crew, attentive staff and great food. Jonas and Heather provided excellent support. I did 34 dives, including five night dives and two trips to Apo Island. Saw astonishing critters, including blue ring octopus, wonderpus, minuscule frog fish, sea turtles, nudibranchs of every color, a large pufferfish trapped inside an anemone, mating mandarin fish, so much.

Another amazing trip with Blue Planet! Heather & Jonas were great at coordinating pre-travel logistics. Atlantis Resort was amazing and the staff were accommodating to all of our needs. This was my first time muck diving and our dive master Junar help us spot all of the tiny sea critters. I was amazed at the diversity of coral and sea life both in Dumaguete and on our Apo Island day trips. Looking forward to my next Blue Planet adventure!

Jen and Ryan were the utmost hosts of this trip. The diving, camaraderie, and organization was great! I even extended a couple extra days so I could ferry over to Saba and try the diving over there.
