If you have been trying to loosen up and create painterly pastel paintings, this workshop is for you! Through demonstrations and daily exercises, we will work on layering color to create a prismatic and painterly pastel painting. Focus is on value, color and edges which all contribute to building this effect.
About Robin Thornhill
Art has been intertwined in my life as long as I can remember. In elementary school, I waited in anticipation for the art teacher who only came in once a week. In high school, I was able to take two different art classes every day; it truly was a respite from my unsteady life. Often I would walk to mid-town to a store that carried some art supplies in the back room. Slowly I would make my way up and down the aisles, coveting the rows of bins that housed graded pencils and fancy erasers, knowing one day these supplies would be the tools I would use to carve out my life's journey; to declare who I am.
I have since added many more mediums to my art toolbox: oil paints and brushes, boxes of varied charcoal, encaustic supplies and most notable, typeset trays full of soft pastels in an array of brands, shapes, colors & values.
Born and raised in New England I consider myself fortunate to live in close proximity to the White Mountains and the New England Seacoast, where much of my inspiration is derived from. The beaches and salt marshes provide an abundance of color, texture and interesting patterns which change with the seasons. My goal is to show people how nature can have a profound calming and healing effect on us both mentally and physically. I strive to create pieces that bring a sense of peace and tranquility to the viewer; to transport that viewer to that time and place that made its mark on me.
I am currently a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and offer regular pastel classes at Cedar Street Studios in Amesbury, Massachusetts as well as plein air and in - studio workshops around New England.

Available Packages
Price is per person. Double Occupancy. You each have your own "sleeping nook" with fun and cozy privacy curtains and your own closet for personal items And your own bathrobe. You share an en-suite bathroom
We assign all students to rooms based on giving everyone a great space. All double occupancy rooms are in the main property
