      About this trip

Join us on an epic wilderness adventure that combines all of the best things: rafting, hiking, swimming, yoga, delicious food, fun happy hours, amazing scenery, incredible wildlife and great people. The Rogue River is an iconic American classic, one of the country’s great summer wilderness trips, a founding member of the National Wild and Scenic River System, and a river with such a grand reputation that in some circles it is simply known as “the Canyon”.

      Trip Highlights

      • Soak in the incredible 50 miles of the beautiful Wild & Scenic section of the Rogue River
      • Float over 80 whitewater rapids that are exciting yet safe
      • Explore incredible side canyon hikes to amazing waterfalls
      • Arrive at camp – fully set-up by the guides – grab a beverage, and relax by the pristine river
      • Appreciate the fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities: black bears, turtles, river otter and bald eagles
      • Enjoy falling asleep under the stars with the sounds of the river
      • Wake up and go on an early morning trail run or do yoga by the river

      Advanced Wilderness Life Support:

In 2023 we will be adding Wilderness Medicine skills to the Rogue River Safari. The lectures and hands-on skills will be interspersed throughout rafting, hiking and meals. There will be an option to obtain your Advanced Wilderness Life Support Certification.  The AWLS certification course is a hybrid course with some online material completed prior to the trip and then a day of lecture material in Ashland Oregon before the river trip begins.   The remaining hours of hands-on skills will be taught throughout the 4 days on the river.

      Who is this trip for?

Loved ones and family are welcome on this trip! We have specifically designed this trip so that non-medical professionals can join and learn some wilderness medicine skills! The material is helpful for anyone who spends time outdoors, regardless if you are in the medical field.

      CME and CEU accreditation:

Approved for up to 24.5 hours of continuing education credits through the Wilderness Medical Society. Nurses also get up to 24.5 CEUs for the AWLS course or 8 CEUs for just the river skills course. .

      What is Safari Style?

Safari-style trips take river camping to the next level! Each afternoon you will show up to a fully set up camp with walk-in tents (nightstands, tent runners, cots, pads, and sleeping bags), a shaded hangout area, and a family-style dining area (fully set-up tables under the stars).

Enjoy wine tasting, happy hours with appetizers, and delicious gourmet meals with some of the finest local ingredients and products. On these trips, extra experienced guides help with the gear and provide a more personalized service, from helping set up your tents to hosting a full complimentary bar.

I had a great time with Ari and Roxanne getting my WFR certification. They were so incredibly experienced, knowledgeable and fun. They both were patient and did a great job communicating. When our venue fell through (where we were doing our course work) they quickly found another place and our learning were barley interrupted. I am really looking forward to using Med treks again.

This was a fantastic experience, we saw Morocco edge to edge: from the 'new' in Casablanca, the old and older in Fes and Marrakech, camels in the Sahara, hiking in the Atlas Mountains, and ending with the gorgeous Essaouira shore. You don't have to be in the medical field to join in a MedTreks adventure! Ari is an easygoing and FUN leader who I highly recommend!

Words cannot describe how amazing my time on the Morocco CME Hiking and Cultural tour was and I do not have the literary skill to attempt such a feat! From an amazing group to exploring the vast old mediinas and learning about their intricate history from our personal guide Haddou to hiking in the Atlas mountains and experiencing the sunset, stars, and sunrise in the Sahara to walking in the ocean in Essouria and everything inbetween, it was a wonder and priveledge to learn about the history and people of Morocco, especially being welcomed in to the home of a Berber family! And don't forget the cultural experience of the amazing cuisine, (including an optional cooking class!) and the luxury accomodations across the beautiful and welcoming country! I cannot recommend Medtreks enough and many thanks to Ari and her team for the dedication and ceaseless work giving us such an amazing experience! On to the next trip!

Cannot say enough amazing things about Ari and the MedTreks International experience!! I travelled to Morocco in November on a MedTreks trip and I am still so blown away reflecting on not only our travels, but the incredible people I met along the way, and the heart behind this company. I'll start by saying WOW ~ the trip was incredible!! Ari is an exceptional guide and curated the most thoughtful and well-rounded trip. I truly felt immersed in the culture and learned so much about Morocco. It is a country so unique and unlike anywhere I've ever traveled before. Trip highlights were the sunset camel ride in the Sahara, a tagine cooking class, and of course the hamam spa day! All of the food was EXCELLENT, and our accommodations were fantastic. We were given a thorough itinerary in advance, had two awesome locals guiding us through the country, visited the most amazing spots, and had several intimate cultural experiences, for example, having lunch with the Nomadic Berber people in their home. I highly recommend to all considering - all you have to do is show up and be ready for awe and wonder. I also want to mention - MedTreks seems to attract really amazing individuals for their trips - it was so fun getting to know each person in our group which made the experience that much better. Having previously taken group trips, this community felt especially connected and I only have positive things to say about the experience!! I think everyone drawn to MedTreks has a heart for adventure, life-long learning, and meaningful connection. MedTreks has an unbelievable depth of knowledge having run tours worldwide for some 40 years now - I was blown away in conversation with Ari and with other travelers who have been on a trip with them in past. To hear about the trip planning and seriously INCREDIBLE experiences they coordinate inspires me to do all my travels with them!! Learning more about the positive impact of the trips on local cultures and the MedTreks foundation in Kenya is also so cool. It feels like this company is a hidden gem putting together once in a lifetime moments for people.
