1:30pm Get driven to Rosewood Cottage Basecamp and settle into tents briefly
2pm Set off for Engagement Valley walk including afternoon tea on the trail (approximately 2 hours of walking in total).
4:30pm Arrive back at Rosewood Cottage basecamp where you'll be welcomed with a refreshingly cold, lightly sparkling glass of our signature house made Lemon Verbena & Rosemary Cordial. Settle in, shower and change. Explore the creek and the old shearing shed if you wish.
5pm Happy Hour on the cottage verandah
6:30pm A 3 course dinner hosted in the dining room.
Relax until late by the firepit under the stars, enjoy a port by the open fire in the cottage, cosy up in the library or retire to your tent ahead of your big day of hiking tomorrow.
Creek country and mountain top loop
The day starts on undulating hills (the warm up) before we climb the major hill summit (at our own pace) for the day. After decent we stay relatively close to water level for the remainder of the day. We will occasionally walk along farm tracks but a good portion of the day will be off track- meaning we wont be walking on prepared paths and may be walking on uneven surfaces or through long grass (depending on seasonal conditions).
This is the most challenging walk of the weekend due to its distance and terrain. There is the option for some group members to opt out of this day if they prefer or join us for a partial walk before turning back to return to basecamp. This loop takes approximately 7-8 hours including breaks.
7:00am Wakeup call
7:00-8:00am Breakfast
8.15 Muster
ensure daypacks equipped and collect your packed lunch in the dining room on your way to the library where you will be briefed on the days hike.
8:30 am Set out for along undulating hills towards the main summit of the day
10am Morning tea
From the summit we descend to the Memundy Creek and walk for some stretches in our wet shoes as we crisscross the shallow creek.
12-1pm Lunch
Check out historic Hogans Hut and the Lachlan River camp if time permits before following the river back towards the direction of base camp
2-3pm Afternoon tea, creek side.
Follow the Mulgowrie Creek upstream via Bullock forest towards basecamp or take a shortcut back to basecamp
Approximately 3-4pm arrive at Rosewood Cottage where you are met with a cold drink and a cool towel. You might like to shower and change and take the opportunity to take a chair and book to relax by the creek or go for a dip.
5:30pm Happy Hour. Drinks and nibbles on the deck or by the fire pit
6:30pm Three course dinner in the dining room
Relax until late by the firepit under the stars, enjoy a port by the open fire in the cottage, cosy up in the library or retire to your tent after an incredible day of hiking.
