Mogok is a world's best quality rubies production centre in Myanmar (Burma). This region is very hilly and situated in high altitude. Hill ethnic tribes and Burmese are major residents who are mainly working for mining, gems cutting, polishing, gemstones searching, tea leaf growing and so forth. Mogok is also land of producing other precious gems like sapphires (yellow, white, purple and star), spinel crystal, peridot, topaz, moon stone, garnet, blue marble, zircon, pleonaste, scapolite and others.
It was major gems production site during the reign of British. Hence, some British style houses & buildings, cemetery can be found at down town areas & outside.
We have to apply permission to the regional government to visit to this ruby and gems land. Hence, if you are interested and planning to visit there, you should contact me at lest three weeks before the tour date. Permission takes about 8 days.
You will be picked up from the hotel by our tour representative about 8:00 am in the morning. We will drive to Mogok and on the way, you can have lunch at local restaurant. Make a stop and break at Shwe Nyaung Bin station gate to see the local products, shops and food stalls. Arrive Kyatpyin at the western part of Mogok, you will visit to the gem market: locally called “Pan Ma Htar Pwe” near the Panma open-air market. You will see the scenic views of the town from the top of Daw Nan Kyi Taung and its pagoda with peaceful atmosphere. Then, you will have opportunity to see the view over the coffee plantation fields. Mogok is very colorful with different people like Shan-chinsese, Napalese, Palaung, Leshaw, Burmese and Lisu.
