About this trip

Climbing the rocky summit of Rucu Pichincha (4.696 m / 15,407 ft) is a wonderful tour out of Quito for getting first high-altitude experience or as preparation for the higher summits. This beautiful summit is overlooking Quito and already the ride up with the TeleferiQo to the trail head (Quito's cable car) is an exciting activity. The hike to the summit is in general straight forward, there is a small scrambling section towards the summit at the very top. To continue with the acclimatization process we go South and visit Chimborazo National Park on day 2. Definitely a trip of a lifetime - join us!

Technically the climb is not very difficult, nevertheless good fitness is required and some previous experience highly recommended.

Another very important point is proper acclimatization. To really enjoy the climb, we recommend at least having stayed a day in the city before climbing it.

Just awesome! Couldn't imagine a better organization, also due to the fact we had to cancel Cotopaxi because the volcano started a little steam-activity. The two tours (Iliniza Norte & Chimborazo) with our guide Robinson were absolutely amazing. Especially the Tour onto Chimborazo was unique, we felt safe and comfortable during the whole tour. The fact that the plan was to start from the high-camp gives you an extra advantage to reach the summit. Overall we're very happy and glad that we found Andean summit adventure and definitely a 10 star recommendation! merci

Our guides were the best we could’ve imagined. The hospitality, food, lodging was also all incredible. Thanks for the experience of a lifetime

I was looking to climb the maximum of the highest volcanoes in Ecuador, in order for training and get acclimatization for Everest. I contacted Andean Summits to organise this adventure, and they have set a perfect schedule for the time frame I have indicated. They are extremly professional and know very well all the nuances in climbing in Ecuador. Everything is possible with them, they can adapt the trip to any demands. I was very happy to climb with them. Everything was very well set. The guides are very high experience and know perfectly the mountains. The climbs are possible practically at any weather conditions. If travelling to Ecuador for climbing, I can only recomend to get in touch with Andean Summits to organise any of desired trip. Finally I have climbed all the 9 highest volcanoes of Ecuador ! What an adventure ! Thank you for that wunderful discovery and experience.

The trip we booked included acclimatization and climbing of some of Ecuador's most beautiful mountains. Although my girlfriend did not feel a hundred per cent well, I think that we really enjoyed it. Guiding was very good and the program worked out perfectly fine. It was always possible to do adaptions and get in contact with guides and Elisabeth. We have a few mountains left and will for sure return :).
