Dimitris Theodorakakos is an athlete, long distance runner,balkan and national champion winner in the marathon race. He specializes in mountain running races where he has finished 1st and 2nd in the Mountain Running World Championships at Olympus,Greece in 2018 and Madeira, Portugal in 2016 respectively.
In his sporting career: He has been the Greek Marathon winner in 2009 and 2011.Furthermore, six times ranked 2nd and once 3rd (all in the Athens Authentic Marathon). PB 2:19':17'''.
He has been Greek Champion in the National Mountain Running Championship 6 times (as many times as he has participated).In the Greek Skyrunning Championship he has been Champion 7 times(as many times as he has participated).
He is 5 times winner of the Olympus Marathon, an international and very demanding race.He still holds the course record to this day, after winning the marathon of Great Wall of China Marathon in 2013.
He is serving in the Navy since 1997 and completed the Submarine School training (Navy Seal).Due to his active involvement at the highest level of competitive sport, he is a member of the Armed Forces Athletics Department and an active member in the scientific committee of the Submarine Command regarding the nutrition and training program of the candidates at the Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) school.
He has been a partner with Salomon's Research and Development department for the purpose of improving the manufacture of the company's goods (mainly in the field of racing footwear) and in the implementation of research on the impact of performance of the above, for high level athletes.
His passion for running and the restless spirit that distinguishes him led him to
State University of Strasbourg where he is a student at the Department of Sports Sciences.Last he is a lecturer at mountain running seminars and schools in Greece and abroad.
