About your trip

7-Day ‘Flip Flops in the Sand’ Immersion That Will Change Your Life Forever - It's a Vacation with a Purpose!

Do You:

· Dream of Running Away from Home, Escaping the Harsh Winters?

· And Living on A Pristine White Sandy Beach on A Tropical Island In Paradise - FOREVER?

Today Your Dream Can Become A Reality!

Experience a week living barefoot on the beach like an islander, getting the insider scoop into how to earn dollars, spend pesos, and live in paradise like royalty – on any budget. Banish the fear of the unknown, and embrace a brilliant future life you've always dreamed of.

7 Days That Will Change Your Life

You will explore the off-the-beaten-path treasures of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, a tiny sun-kissed island off the coast of Cancun. You will savor fresh caught seafood, slurp icy margaritas while digging your toes into powder white sand, and swim and sun on one of the 9 best beaches of the world – according to Conde Nast - and recently voted the best beach in all of Mexico!

Unique Learning Vacation for a Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

While this week-long vacation is a deliciously-relaxing and enjoyable retreat, it is so much more. The purpose is to give you a profound immersion into life in paradise, to see if running away from home to live to paradise on this tiny island in the tropics is right for you. Each day is filled with exploration of unique locations, delicious fresh-cooked meals, afternoons spent at exquisite beaches and amazing beach clubs, and evenings of live music and laid-back living.

But it's also structured to present valuable learning in the morning sessions, along with opportunities to meet doctors, lawyers, realtors, and more, and visit typical homes of other expats to get a bird's eye view into life in paradise. You will learn about many local non-profit organizations that are the backbone of the island, and meet other expats who have successfully moved to paradise to build a joy-filled life on a shoestring budget. Plus you will meet working professionals who hold down jobs and build businesses as digital nomads or remote workers, who live and work in paradise for the best of all worlds. You will learn that you can do it too!

Experience Day of the Dead in Isla!

And when you attend this retreat, you will be able to experience the celebrations and ceremonies of The Day of the Dead, held Oct. 31 - Nov. 2, throughout Mexico.  This is the most sacred celebration throughout Mexico, celebrated everywhere with family altars, offerings of food and drink, marigolds everywhere, and candlelit vigils in the cemetery.  In Isla, it's an intimate celebration, with a walking entourage down Hidalgo Street from the old cemetery where the pirate Mundaca is buried, to the Zocolo or main square in front of the City Hall and the Catholic Church, where festivities will be held.  You will see local altars to loved ones in people's homes and businesses, lots of traditional music and dance, and people dressed as Catrinas - you have to experience it to believe it.  Plan to bring a festive dress so you can become a Cartina - you will find images everywhere online - and Elva the makeup artist will provide face painting so you can look like a Mexican work of art. Bring framed photos of your deceased loved ones, and we will build our own loving altar in the retreat hotel.  It is the adventure of a lifetime - and I look forward to sharing it with you here in Isla Mujeres - the Island of Women!

Welcome to paradise - Travel day, arrival, meet & greet, music

Welcome to Isla Mujeres!  Today is a travel day, and we have arranged a private shuttle to pick you up at the airport and take you to the Puerto Juarez Ferry Terminal for your 20-minute trip to Isla Mujeres.  We will pick you up at the Isla ferry terminal, and bring you to the retreat hotel, The Mermaid and The Pearl. where you can rest and unpack and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime

You will meet the other retreat guests and your hosts at the Happy Hour Reception, from 5 - 7 pm, with margaritas, wine, beer, soft drinks, and fresh jamaica juice on the third-floor terrace, where we will enjoy a light buffet dinner.  Afterward, we will walk just 1 block to the breathtakingly beautiful beach to watch the magnificent sunset over the sparkling blue water.  You are welcome to head back to the hotel to rest, or you can accompany us on a walking tour of Hidalgo, the walking street and entertainment center just 1 block behind the hotel.  There you will hear lots of live music from the many bars and restaurants downtown, and get a great overview of the area.  Stay as long as you like, as the music will rock til midnight, then head home for a great night's sleep.

It's Sunday, the first full day of the retreat!  You are free to sleep in, or wake up early, grab a coffee and a pastry or fruit, and head out to watch the morning arrive on the island.  We will meet at 9 AM for a sumptuous breakfast and a welcome orientation briefing.  Afterward, we will head out for an island tour by car and golf cart, exploring the island, its different neighborhoods, key landmarks, and magnificent beach clubs.  We will enjoy a late lunch of Tikinxic (pronounced tick-en-chick), which is an island delicacy of fire-roasted fresh whole fish on Playa Tiburon (Shark Beach), with your feet in the sand watching the boats go by. We will make several stops, including a quick shopping trip to Chedraui (shed-raw-wee) to pick up snacks, your favorite beverages, toiletries, or anything you forgot at home.

Wear your swimsuit, as we will find places to take a dip along the way. You can choose to head back to the hotel, or join a group of Isla locals at DeNucios Italian restaurant overlooking the Caribbean, or across the street at El Borrocho Burro before heading back to the hotel.  We will enjoy happy hour on the 3rd-floor terrace, before walking one block to Playa Norte, where you can swim at one of the 9 best beaches in the world while watching the sunset. Amazing!  You can stay as long as you wish, then head back to the hotel, or stroll Hidalgo for a drink and music with us.  You can grab a light dinner or snack on the beach or on Hidalgo - there are more than 212 restaurants on the tiny island, and each is better than the next one!
