About this trip

Our overnight Rustic Cabin weekend is a fantastic way to explore the mountains of southern New Hampshire without needing too many camping supplies. Open to all levels, even hiking novices, this retreat is a perfect balance of challenge and comfort. Together we will spend time in nature learning to be present, practicing yoga and meditation, and pushing our physical limits.

Here is a basic overview of what you can expect:

Friday July 20
Cozy Cabin Basecamp (Full Service, full amenities) We'll start our weekend Friday Night at the base of Cardigan Mountain in a cozy cabin rental with full amenities, electricity, hot running water, bunk beds, a wood fired stove, and more. That evening enjoy a healthy home cooked dinner, time by the fire and a ceremony for setting intentions.

Saturday July 21
Backcountry Rustic High Mountain Cabin  (Self Service, No running water or electricity) The next day we'll enjoy a leisure breakfast waking up deep in the woods of Southern New Hampshire, practice yoga and meditation outside (weather dependant).  We will pack our bags with everything you would need for camping except the tents: sleeping gear, food, headlamps, clothing for the climate, extra water for cooking and cleaning, and more.   Once our bags are set, we're off to hike 2 miles up Mount Cardigan where we'll spend the night in a Rustic High Mountain Cabin with a woodfired stove and bunk bed accommodations. Here we will drop our bags take a break, and then head out to summit Mount Cardigan & Firescrew Mountain.  We'll practice yoga & meditation and enjoy the sunset with a 360 degree view.

Sunday July 22nd

Mountain Wake Up Wake up in our secluded escape with breathtaking scenery and fresh mountain air. (Option to watch the sunrise) Enjoy breakfast and hot coffee followed by yoga and meditation. We'll pack our bags back up and finish our day by summiting Orange Mountain, and and the South Peak of Mount Cardigan.

FOUR PEAKS 3 DAYS:

We will be hiking a loop that connects 4 peaks together.

Day 1: Mount Cardigan (3155')

Day 1: Firescrew Mountain (3064')

Day 2: Orange Mtn. (Mt. Gilman) (2684')

Day 2: South Peak (of Mt. Cardigan) (2864')

YOGA DETAILS:
While yoga is often considered a physical practice of creating shapes with our bodies that stretch our muscles and work with our breath, we want to encourage you to consider the full picture of what yoga truly is. Yoga is a discipline to improve or develop one's inherent power in a balanced manner. It offers the means to attain complete self-realization. In this framework our entire weekend is infact a practice of yoga. From the moment we meet one another and set intentions, to the the first steps on the summit of a mountain we are practicing yoga.

This means, that while we will offer the asana (the physical practice of yoga) throughout the weekend, please remember that everything is subject to weather and trail conditions.  While our intention is to lead your through two full vinyasa style practices, based on the variability of the outdoors our yoga class could range from a mat practice on the ground, to a standing practice with our boots on under the canopy of our cabin, to a stretch session in our bunk beds followed by a deep meditation. Most of all every physical yoga session will be all levels so we invite all people to participate

We appreciate your willingness to leave all expectations at the door and give into the flow of our weekend adventure!

HIKING DETAILS:
This is moderately strenuous retreat that will test your limits while bringing you back in touch with nature. Please be prepared to hike on steep and rocky terrain while carrying a bag with snacks and layers that can weigh between 10-20 pounds. While we encourage hiking novices to sign up, we recommend that you be in good athletic shape and capable of continuous activity for at least four hours at a time. We had a great time. The Yoga classes were fantastic! Helpful for before and after skiing. The hot tub was great, as well as the breakfast. I'm definitely thinking about going on this trip again next year.

They were awesome. Amazing accommodations. Very thoughtful and responsive organizers. I don’t think the breakfast service the hotel service uses is good. Better off getting coffee and bagels elsewhere. Would do again.
Great weekend getaway packed with yoga, tasty cider, and a fun day on the mountain. I only wish the trip had been longer! Partnering relaxing yoga sessions, spa treatment and hot tub action, and a full day of snowboarding is a match made in heaven. Can't wait to invite more friends to join on this trip again next year.

Stowe Ski & Yoga retreat was amazing! There were 4 yoga classes offered and a day of skiiing. This was the perfect amount and balance for a 2 night trip. The value was great ! Dinner and 2 breakfasts were included. The hostess/organizer, Laura was awesome! Accommodating, informative, hospitable and enjoyable. I can’t wait for my next Backcountry yoga trip !
