About this trip

Join the Haitian Nomad on a trip to the new jewel of Africa: Rwanda--Known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda's stunning scenery and warm, friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife living throughout its volcanoes, montane rainforest and sweeping plains.

(ITINERARY SUBJECT TO CHANGE -Payment processing fees are non-refundable)

COVID 19 Vaccination REQUIRED

Please note that ALL Haitian Nomad trips require Covid19 Vaccination as we cannot be responsible for cancellations due to newly imposed Covid19 vaccine mandates. If you fail to be vaccinated by the trip's departure date , you will forfeit all payments.

Dietary Restrictions

Please note that we cannot accommodate extreme diet restrictions on trips to Africa or places where it's difficult to meet everyone's dietary preferences; therefore, we advise that you do not book this trip if you have extreme diet restrictions.

Traveling to AFrica

Although Rwanda is the new jewel of Africa, we ask that you do NOT book this trip if you cannot let go of first world expectations when traveling to places like Africa where things like these can happen:
-Unexpected changes in the itinerary/schedule.
-Hotel accommodations standards below what you're used to in more developed destinations.
-Sometimes Uncomfortable Transportation options through rough roads.

It is best suited for those who can let go of all first world expectations and expect the unexpected.

GORILLA TREKKING

With any strenuous activity, the fitter you are, the better. But this doesn’t mean that you need to be able to complete a triathlon or bench press three times your body weight to go gorilla trekking.

Please note that it is not always 100% guaranteed that you will see/find the gorillas.

Trekkers will be divided into groups of similar age and fitness levels, and the oldest and least fit people will generally be allocated the gorilla family that is nearest the starting point. Don’t worry: you won’t be split up from family members or friends but – obeying the golden rule of hiking – the fastest walkers will have to slow down to the pace of the slowest so that the group stays together safely.

The fittest or youngest people will be chosen to find the group furthest away. Your guides are very experienced in assessing how the group is coping and will stop when necessary for a break, to drink water, admire a view or even have a snack. Packed lunches contain water and perhaps energy-rich items like roasted cashews or peanuts, bananas, apples, chocolate bars, muffins, small sandwiches or bread rolls, and local treats like ‘rolled eggs’ – a kind of omelette eaten cold.

Also, not all gorilla families will be lolling around, munching leaves and basking in the sunshine – some will be on the move. And they’re a lot better adapted to moving through their rainforest home than we are, so you’ll need to be able to keep up!

The trip to South Africa was rerouted to Dubai and I had a great time. Haitian Nomad and Richard did everything they could to turn around an amazing trip in a short amount of time. We did many things including Dubai Expo 2020, NYE in front of the Burj Khalifa, and more but what was great about traveling with Haitian Nomad was that we were taken care of every step of the way. i I really didn't have to think or pay attention much and that is just what I wanted, I just went along with the flow and had a great experience. I highly recommend Haitian Nomad for travelers who don't want to plan but want to see as much as possible and do as much as possible on a trip with a great group of people.

This one is finally checked off my bucket list!! Fantastic trip with an exceptional group of travelers. The guide was awesome, witty and knowledgeable. The experience of a lifetime. I climbed some steps of the pyramid, kissed the sphinx, pinched the tip of the pyramids, walked along the mighty Nile, got quite acquainted with Mick (my camel), visited the tombs, walked along the villagers in an authentic village town, ran from a wall-climbing mouse in said authentic village, skipped in the temples, walked like an Egyptians, cruised along the Nile and even got in the water...Oh my, how my heart hurt as I moved from one event to another because my body simply could not process the beauty that met my eyes at every stop...it went on and on and I am grateful for every memory. Thanks Haitian Nomad for the making this event one I will talk about forever.

We're so glad we went on the first Mystery Trip with the Haitian Nomad!! We made history!! Mauritius was a vacation of a lifetime!! It's been on my list of places I'd love to visit one day and the Haitian Nomad made my dream come true!! We were able to visit cultural sites as well as spend a day on a catamaran watching dolphins and getting all the sun we wanted! The group of people on this trip were amazing and we were able to make new friends and hang out with some old ones! As always we felt as if the trip delivered more than what we paid for and we cannot wait to go on our next trip with the Haitian Nomad! We tell all our friends to sign up to get all the info and travel with us because you won't regret ANY trip with the Haitian Nomad!! Hands down best travel company we have ever used!!! ❤️

As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this Haitian Nomad Trip! My CVO, Richard Cantave always mixes the right amount of educational/cultural experiences, and leisure time for his trips, and the mystery trip was no exception! The suspense leading up to the trip was fun and while some may join as strangers, you always leave with lifelong memories and friends!

I have been traveling with Haitian Nomad since 2016. Within these 4 years they have built themselves a very solid reputation. I have recommended friends who came back with praising reviews. Originally centered on Haiti, they now have a global imprint with well-curated trips to discover the beauty and history of some dope locations. On Richard's trips, careful consideration is always taken for our security as well as our health. We see that illustrated even more in 2020 as we deal with the current pandemic. On our most recent trip, we made sure to be in complete compliance with both the US and Senegal by getting tested for COVID-19 before, during and after our trip. All of us left and came with back with negative results. As a healthcare provider, I felt in trusted hands the whole time and also did not feel that our group was compromising the health of the country we were visiting. The itineraries usually includes a mix of activity and relaxation (sometimes hardcore rejoicing at night lol). The best part is you always leave Richard's trips with unique travel experiences as well as lifelong friendships.

Short Version: Book with him ASAP I cannot recommend the Haitian Nomad enough!! My first trip, we'd returned from Cuba and after the experience, I was thoroughly impressed with Richard's trip. His trips are extremely well planned and a lot of thought and effort was put into ensuring everyone is having the time of their life. Richard pays attention to all the little details, is very organized, and adds a personal touch to the experience that you're not likely to get anywhere else. During our trip to Cuba, Richard organized a wonderful home-cooked rooftop dinner in the city of Trinidad and it was such a fun, unique experience. He made sure to take us around to the sights and helped us if we needed anything while on the trip. Prior to the trip, Richard provided us with all the necessary information leading up to the trip and gave us tips and suggestions on what to expect and other things to do as well. He is also open to feedback on how his service can be improved so he gets an A in customer service from me. Overall, it was the perfect trip and I couldn't have asked for more. So far I've been on about 5 or 6 trips (maybe more) and it exceeds expectations every time!
