About this trip

Join the Haitian Nomad on a trip to the new jewel of Africa: Rwanda--Known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda's stunning scenery and warm, friendly people offer unique experiences in one of the most remarkable countries in the world. It is blessed with extraordinary biodiversity, with incredible wildlife living throughout its volcanoes, montane rainforest and sweeping plains.

(ITINERARY SUBJECT TO CHANGE -Payment processing fees are non-refundable)

COVID 19 Vaccination REQUIRED

Please note that ALL Haitian Nomad trips require Covid19 Vaccination as we cannot be responsible for cancellations due to newly imposed Covid19 vaccine mandates. If you fail to be vaccinated by the trip's departure date , you will forfeit all payments.

Dietary Restrictions

Please note that we cannot accommodate extreme diet restrictions on trips to Africa or places where it's difficult to meet everyone's dietary preferences; therefore, we advise that you do not book this trip if you have extreme diet restrictions.

Traveling to AFrica

Although Rwanda is the new jewel of Africa, we ask that you do NOT book this trip if you cannot let go of first world expectations when traveling to places like Africa where things like these can happen:
-Unexpected changes in the itinerary/schedule.
-Hotel accommodations standards below what you're used to in more developed destinations.
-Sometimes Uncomfortable Transportation options through rough roads.

It is best suited for those who can let go of all first world expectations and expect the unexpected.

GORILLA TREKKING

With any strenuous activity, the fitter you are, the better. But this doesn’t mean that you need to be able to complete a triathlon or bench press three times your body weight to go gorilla trekking.

Please note that it is not always 100% guaranteed that you will see/find the gorillas.

Trekkers will be divided into groups of similar age and fitness levels, and the oldest and least fit people will generally be allocated the gorilla family that is nearest the starting point. Don’t worry: you won’t be split up from family members or friends but – obeying the golden rule of hiking – the fastest walkers will have to slow down to the pace of the slowest so that the group stays together safely.

The fittest or youngest people will be chosen to find the group furthest away. Your guides are very experienced in assessing how the group is coping and will stop when necessary for a break, to drink water, admire a view or even have a snack. Packed lunches contain water and perhaps energy-rich items like roasted cashews or peanuts, bananas, apples, chocolate bars, muffins, small sandwiches or bread rolls, and local treats like ‘rolled eggs’ – a kind of omelette eaten cold.

Also, not all gorilla families will be lolling around, munching leaves and basking in the sunshine – some will be on the move. And they’re a lot better adapted to moving through their rainforest home than we are, so you’ll need to be able to keep up!

We had another fantastic trip with Haitian Nomad! The trip was very organized and met all our expectations. We were glad that we were able to bring our kids and that all of the activities were accommodating and appropriate for them. Richard and his crew rolled out the red carpet for all of the activities and events. The dining experiences were exceptional, and the history and tours of Senegal were amazing. We cannot wait to join Haitian Nomad on another trip.

This was my first trip with the Haitian Nomad group and it was excellent! Richard is incredibly organized and accommodating. He communicated clearly and answered any and all questions I had about the trip. I plan to travel with his group again in the future. Senegal is an amazing country to visit and would recommend anyone interested to travel with the Haitian Nomad group.

This trip was absolutely amazing! I’m happy to report that Haitian Nomad did an outstanding job with all of the logistics, planning and overall ensuring that all the details were taken care of so i could focus on relaxing and enjoying all of the culture and sight seeing. The Riad we stayed in was in a great location that allowed for easy shopping access. All of the activities we did exposed us to the local cuisine, culture and some traditional experiences that i likely would not have had if i did this trip on my own. Additionally, the local guides that we had were all perfect! They all did a great job of sharing their experience and knowledge while also being engaging and fun. Lastly, Cris was a fantastic host and Ambassador for Morocco. He kept the group organized while also sprinkling in some of his own knowledge about Morocco and the Arab world. His fun lighthearted nature also really helped. Kudos!

Haitian Nomad does it again!! This was an amazing trip!! We had a small group of 10 which I loved! I love that the organizers are in tuned with the needs of travelers after a long flight! We got to take a quick tour of Marrakech upon arrival on the first the day. We also had a relaxing and pampering day for our first full day which was great. The spa day was a great set up for the more active days of the trip for touring the Atlas Mountains and other walking tours of the city. All the restaurants selected were fabulous. We also had plenty of time to shop the market areas along with great recommendations on things to shop for during the trip. Our HN Ambassador for this trip was Cristavao and he did a fantastic job representing the Haitian Nomad brand. He did a great job making sure the trip ran smoothing, timely and efficiently. He was knowledgeable about the culture and history in Morocco and he truly made sure we didn't worry or stress about anything!! When I have to book group trips for personal travel Haitian Nomad is the ONLY company I book with!

Another Great trip presented by Haitian Nomad! I truly enjoyed Marrakech's submersion! Walking thru the streets of Medina, I felt like I belonged. If it was not for the fact, we still stuck out like Americans. My favorite was the Hammam bath and massages, yes, I can get used to having that done every day. Let's talk about food. I personally did not eat a bad meal. I can't wait to put my cooking class to the test and cook my own Lamb Tagine and Couscous, slightly disappointed I did not actually purchase a Tagine, a cone-shaped dish that meals are cooked in. That only means I need to book another trip to Marrakech with Haitian Nomad. Now let's talk about our host, Mr. Cristova! I was impressed with the level of detail he had on the trip. I was nervous at first, but by the time I met him in person at the Airport. I knew I was in capable hands, he made sure that I enjoyed every step, and I do mean steps, lots of steps! LOL Even when I was prepared to stay at the Riad ( hotel), because the hike up the Atlas mountain was not in my future, he made arrangements for a Henna Class! Again, his attention to detail. He knew me and the mountain was not going to mesh, next time, I'll be ready! Haitian Nomad definitely found a great Ambassador to represent the brand! I'm super excited for the next trip, whether it is with Richard or his Ambassadors I know I will be in great hands!

I have been traveling with Haitian Nomad since 2016. Within these 4 years they have built themselves a very solid reputation. I have recommended friends who came back with praising reviews. Originally centered on Haiti, they now have a global imprint with well-curated trips to discover the beauty and history of some dope locations. On Richard's trips, careful consideration is always taken for our security as well as our health. We see that illustrated even more in 2020 as we deal with the current pandemic. On our most recent trip, we made sure to be in complete compliance with both the US and Senegal by getting tested for COVID-19 before, during and after our trip. All of us left and came with back with negative results. As a healthcare provider, I felt in trusted hands the whole time and also did not feel that our group was compromising the health of the country we were visiting. The itineraries usually includes a mix of activity and relaxation (sometimes hardcore rejoicing at night lol). The best part is you always leave Richard's trips with unique travel experiences as well as lifelong friendships.

Short Version: Book with him ASAP I cannot recommend the Haitian Nomad enough!! My first trip, we'd returned from Cuba and after the experience, I was thoroughly impressed with Richard's trip. His trips are extremely well planned and a lot of thought and effort was put into ensuring everyone is having the time of their life. Richard pays attention to all the little details, is very organized, and adds a personal touch to the experience that you're not likely to get anywhere else. During our trip to Cuba, Richard organized a wonderful home-cooked rooftop dinner in the city of Trinidad and it was such a fun, unique experience. He made sure to take us around to the sights and helped us if we needed anything while on the trip. Prior to the trip, Richard provided us with all the necessary information leading up to the trip and gave us tips and suggestions on what to expect and other things to do as well. He is also open to feedback on how his service can be improved so he gets an A in customer service from me. Overall, it was the perfect trip and I couldn't have asked for more. So far I've been on about 5 or 6 trips (maybe more) and it exceeds expectations every time!
