Cancellation Fees

If you cancel your tour 60 days or more prior to the departure date, you will forfeit your non-refundable deposit of $500 per person.

If you cancel your tour between 59-30 days before the departure date, you will be charged 50% of the total tour cost.

If you cancel your tour 29 days or less prior to the departure date, you will be charged 100% of the total tour cost.

Refunds

Refunds will be processed within 14 business days of receiving written notification of cancellation.

Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect yourself against unforeseen circumstances that may cause you to cancel your tour. Travel insurance may provide coverage for trip cancellations, interruptions, and delays, as well as medical emergencies and evacuations.

Cancellation by So Local Tour Company

In the unlikely event that So Local Tour Company cancels your tour, you will receive a full refund of all monies paid, including your non-refundable deposit.

Changes to Tour Itinerary

So Local Tour Company reserves the right to make changes to the tour itinerary, including accommodations, transportation, and activities, due to unforeseen circumstances or circumstances beyond our control.

In the event of changes to the tour itinerary, So Local Tour Company will notify you in writing and provide a revised itinerary.

Acceptance of Cancellation Policy

By booking a tour with So Local Tour Company, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and accept our cancellation policy

To help ensure a smooth and stress-free journey, please review the following entry requirements before departure. We recommend applying for your visa(s) well in advance and confirming that your passport meets all validity requirements.

Passport Requirements

Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your date of entry.Ensure you have at least two blank visa pages available. East African Tourist Visa (Recommended)For travelers visiting Rwanda and Uganda, we recommend obtaining the East African Tourist Visa. Key Benefits: Valid for 90 days, allows multiple entries between Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya. Cost: USD $100 per person & must be obtained from the first East African country you enter.

Please Note:

The East African Tourist Visa does not include Tanzania. A separate visa is required for entry into Tanzania.

Tanzania Visa

Travelers continuing to Tanzania must obtain a Tanzania Tourist Visa. Standard Tourist Visa cost: USD $50 (for most nationalities)U.S. citizens currently require a multiple-entry visa costing USD $100Visas are available online in advance or, for many nationalities, upon arrival (subject to current immigration regulations).

Health Requirements

A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is strongly recommended and may be required when traveling between East African countries, particularly when entering Uganda or Tanzania from a country where Yellow Fever is present. We also recommend consulting your healthcare provider or a travel medicine clinic 4–8 weeks before departure regarding: Malaria prevention medication, Routine vaccinations, & travel health recommendations

For a safari, you'll want clothing that is comfortable, functional, and blends well with the environment. Here are some clothing recommendations:

1. Neutral-Colored Clothing:

 Colors: Earthy tones like khaki, beige, olive, and light brown help you blend into the surroundings and avoid attracting insects. Bright colors like red, yellow, and white can disturb animals or attract bugs.

Shirts & Tops: Long-sleeve, breathable shirts (ideally with roll-up sleeves) will protect you from the sun and insects while keeping you cool. Choose lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric.

2. Pants & Shorts:

Pants: Durable, lightweight, and breathable pants are essential. Consider ones with zip-off legs that can convert into shorts.

Closed-toed Shoes: For shorts, choose ones that are above the knee and have a comfortable fit, but be cautious of thorny bushes and insects.

3. Footwear:

Hiking Boots: Comfortable, durable boots with good ankle support are important if you plan on walking or trekking.

Closed-toed Shoes: For safety and comfort, avoid sandals or open-toed shoes that leave you vulnerable to sharp objects or bites. Socks: Moisture-wicking socks are essential to prevent blisters.

4. Sun Protection:

Hat: A wide-brimmed hat provides shade and protects your face from the sun. Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from UV rays, especially during mid-day. Sunblock: Make sure to apply sunscreen regularly to prevent sunburn.

5. Insect Protection:

Insect Repellent: A must-have for protection against mosquitoes and other bugs.

Lightweight, long-sleeve clothing: It adds another layer of protection against insects, particularly in the evening when they’re most active.

6. Jackets & Outerwear:

Light Jacket or Fleece: Even in warm climates, mornings and evenings can get chilly, so a lightweight jacket is a good idea. Raincoat: Depending on the season, a lightweight rain jacket might be necessary.

7. Accessories:

Binoculars and Camera Gear:  Pack them in a secure, easily accessible bag.

Small Backpack or Sling Bag: For carrying essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and a first-aid kit.

8. Avoiding Bright or Shiny Items:

Avoid shiny jewelry, as it can attract insects, and avoid clothing with large logos or bright patterns that might draw attention.

9. Layering:

Depending on the climate, it’s important to layer your clothing so you can adjust for temperature fluctuations during the day.

Your So Local adventure begins in the heart of Rwanda. Upon arrival in Kigali, you'll be warmly welcomed by your local host and transferred to the Grand Legacy Hotel. Depending on your arrival time, soak in your first impressions of one of Africa's cleanest and most vibrant capitals before enjoying a relaxed welcome dinner and getting to know your fellow travelers.

After breakfast, journey through Rwanda's breathtaking "Land of a Thousand Hills" before crossing into Uganda. Along the way, experience rural East Africa as you pass tea plantations, farming communities, and spectacular mountain scenery. Arrive at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, your comfortable base on the edge of the legendary Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Overnight: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

Today is one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife experiences. Following a park briefing, venture deep into the ancient rainforest in search of endangered mountain gorillas. Once found, spend a precious hour observing these remarkable animals in their natural habitat—a truly humbling encounter few people ever experience. Return to the lodge to relax and reflect on an unforgettable day.

Overnight: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

After breakfast, travel back through the rolling landscapes of Uganda and Rwanda, arriving in Kigali in the afternoon. Settle back into your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening before continuing your East African adventure.

Overnight: Grand Legacy Hotel, Kigali

Fly from Kigali to Kilimanjaro International Airport, where your Tanzanian So Local team will welcome you with genuine hospitality. Travel to Haradali Home, a charming guesthouse that offers a warm introduction to Tanzanian culture, local cuisine, and the slower rhythm of life before your safari begins.

Overnight: Haradali Home

Venture into Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant baobab trees, thriving elephant population, and incredible diversity of wildlife. Enjoy an exciting game drive while your expert guide shares stories of the ecosystem and its remarkable inhabitants. End the day surrounded by nature at Ang'ata Tarangire Camp.

Overnight: Ang'ata Tarangire Camp

Today is all about meaningful cultural connection. Explore the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu, where you'll walk through farms and local markets, sample authentic Tanzanian dishes, and meet members of the community who proudly share their traditions and daily life. Later, continue to the lush Ngorongoro Highlands for an evening guided nature walk, offering a different perspective on Tanzania's spectacular landscapes.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Haradali

Travel into the legendary Serengeti National Park, where endless savannahs and extraordinary wildlife await. Along the way, enjoy wildlife sightings before arriving at Moyo Camp in time to watch the African sunset over the plains.

Overnight: Moyo Camp

Spend the day exploring one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations. Search for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and vast herds of plains game while learning how every species plays a role in this extraordinary ecosystem. Every game drive is unique, making today an unforgettable safari experience.

Overnight: Moyo Camp

After breakfast, journey to the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries. Descend onto the crater floor for an incredible game drive, where lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, flamingos, and countless other species thrive within the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. Return to Haradali Home for your final evening in Tanzania.

Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy a relaxed morning before transferring to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your journey home.
