Bardsey Island, located in the northwest of Wales, is believed to be the true Avalon. In the 6th century, the Welsh kings of Llyn and Saint Cafdan founded a monastery on the small island and by the 12th century, it became a very popular pilgrimage site.
Its name translates to "Island of the Bards" and is referred to the island of 20,000 saints, as it is believed that 20, 000 saints and monks have been buried on the island. Today, there are only 11 inhabitants on the island with only ruins revealing what it once once. Still a pilgrim site as well as a bird watcher's paradise, Bardsey Island sits quietly off Wale's western shores.
We will spend some time here(weather permitting) to listen deeply to what the land is willing to share.
