There are places where the sky feels nearer to your skin.
The Sacred Valley is one of them.
Mountains rise in every direction. Ancient terraces carve geometry into the hillsides. The air is clear and thin, and at night the stars feel almost architectural — sharp, vast, intimate.
For seven days, our home will be a mountainside sanctuary overlooking the Sacred Valley. Wide skies. Firelight. Open-air practice spaces suspended above the Andes. Gardens built into the earth.
Not luxury in the polished sense.
Luxury in the elemental sense.
Space. Silence. Sky.
For those who feel the call, the Andes are not subtle.
The Inca understood the Milky Way — Mayu — as a great celestial river, mirroring the river below that flows toward the Amazon. What happened in the heavens reflected what happened on Earth.
Above and below were never separate.
You feel that here.
When the sun sets behind the peaks and the stars ignite across the valley, something ancient clicks into place. You remember that you are part of something far larger — and far more intelligent — than the noise of daily life. As above, so below.
Morning begins in the quiet brilliance of the Andes.
We practice in crisp mountain air as sunlight spills over the peaks and slowly warms the valley below. Breath deepens. Bodies awaken. The landscape becomes part of the teaching.
Throughout the week, the experiences unfold in a natural arc.
A traditional Andean blessing honoring the land.
A guided steam experience beneath open sky.
Guided walks through sacred terrain shaped by centuries of devotion.
Each moment builds gently on the last — not a rush of activities, but a steady unfolding.
Sound moves through the body in a deep, resonant meditation. Clay and color take shape on a painting terrace overlooking the valley.
Massage softens what has been held too tightly.
Meals stretch into conversation.
Firelight gathers us at night.
Silence settles easily here.
This week is not a checklist of experiences.
It is an immersion — layered, intentional, and alive with presence.
In the Sacred Valley, transformation doesn’t arrive dramatically. It rises quietly — like the mountains themselves.
You don’t need a vacation.
You need space — real space — to think without interruption, to feel what you’ve been postponing, to hear your own voice again without the constant pressure of daily life pressing in.
Something in you is shifting.
Not a dramatic collapse.
Not a reinvention.
A return.
You can feel that an old version of you no longer fits, and you’re ready for clarity that doesn’t come from pushing harder — but from stepping away long enough to see clearly.
The Sacred Valley has a way of stripping things down.
Big sky.
Thin air.
Silence that doesn’t feel empty — it feels intelligent.
In that kind of landscape, what matters rises. What doesn’t falls away.
Peru doesn’t perform transformation-- it creates the conditions for it.
The mountains are not subtle. When they call, you feel it in your bones.
This is your invitation to stand under a sky that reminds you who you are.
There are places in the world that hold a different kind of energy.
The Sacred Valley is one of them.
For centuries, this landscape has been considered sacred by the Andean people — a place where mountains are living beings, rivers carry memory, and the land itself is part of the spiritual conversation.
When you spend time here, something becomes unmistakably clear.
The pace of modern life is not the only way to live.
The mountains slow you down.
The altitude sharpens your awareness.
The silence invites reflection.
Yoga in this environment feels different.
Breath becomes more deliberate.
Movement becomes more intentional.
The practice stops being something you do and becomes something you experience.
And beyond the yoga, Peru offers a profound cultural and spiritual depth — ancient Incan sites, living traditions, vibrant markets, and ceremonies that honor Pachamama, the spirit of the Earth.
It is a place where history, spirituality, and landscape intersect.
People often arrive expecting a beautiful retreat.
They leave with something far more meaningful:
Perspective.
Some journeys entertain you.
Others change the way you see the world.
This one transforms.
There are many beautiful yoga retreats in the world.
What makes this one different is the people who gather.
DDY Travels tends to attract thoughtful, curious, engaged humans — people who care about the world, who ask big questions, who want their travel to feel meaningful rather than performative.
Artists. Activists. Entrepreneurs. Teachers. Seekers. People in the middle of change.
The kind of people who enjoy a morning yoga practice as much as a long dinner conversation about how we want to live, what we’re learning, and where the world might be headed next.
You don’t have to fit into any particular identity to belong here.
But if you’ve ever felt like the typical wellness retreat scene wasn’t quite your crowd — if you crave depth, intelligence, and authenticity alongside beauty and adventure — you’ll likely feel very at home here.
Our retreats are grounded in yoga, but they’re also about perspective.
Traveling to places like the Sacred Valley reminds us how vast the world really is — and how much possibility still exists inside it.
When people return home from these journeys, they often say the same thing:
It wasn’t just the place that changed them. It was the conversations. The landscape. The people they met.
Something expands when you spend a week in that kind of company. And once that expansion happens, it tends to stay with you.
Go inward. Come back louder.
This retreat is led by Shelley Carroll, founder of Dancing Dogs Yoga and DDY Travels.
Shelley has been teaching yoga and training teachers since 2010, leading retreats and programs around the world that bring together thoughtful travelers, curious seekers, and people navigating meaningful change in their lives.
Her approach to yoga is grounded, intelligent, and deeply human. Practice is never just about the poses. It’s about learning to listen — to your body, your breath, and the deeper questions that arise when life asks you to grow.
Over the years, Shelley’s retreats have developed a reputation for attracting remarkable people. Artists, entrepreneurs, activists, teachers, travelers — individuals who are thoughtful, engaged, and open to seeing the world through a wider lens.
What participants often remember most is not only the landscape or the yoga practice, but the sense of community that forms when a group of curious, big-hearted humans spend a week exploring a place like the Sacred Valley together.
Shelley’s role is simply to hold the container — creating a space where people can practice, reflect, laugh, explore, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that daily life sometimes buries.
The mountains do the rest.
Shelley believes travel, practice, and community have the power to change how we see the world — and how we choose to live inside it.
