After an energizing breakfast and a night of optimized rest, we will begin a trekking day covering approximately 23 km. This stage of the expedition includes the ascent to the highest point of the route, the Salkantay Pass, situated at 4,630 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.). The route traverses a high-mountain environment, offering a visually impactful experience with panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and mountain ranges.
At the highest point of the trek, participants will learn about the land offering ceremony to Mother Earth (Pachamama), led by a spiritual guide trained in traditional Andean rituals, respecting ancestral protocols of veneration and gratitude towards nature.
Following the ceremony, we will begin a technical descent leading to the Chayway campsite, located at 2,850 meters above sea level. This section is crucial for acclimatization due to the decrease in altitude, allowing for physical recovery while enjoying the transition from mountainous landscapes to more temperate ecosystems. The campsite is equipped to ensure proper rest after the demanding day, facilitating preparation for the subsequent stages of the journey.
