This New Salkantay route will start In Cusco, Visit Humantay Lake, Salkantay Mountain, and at the final part will allow you to hike along a section of the Inca Trail before reaching Machu Picchu as well.

Visit Humantay Lagoon in the afternoon with fewer people
DAY 1: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA– HUMANTAY LAGOON –SALKANTAYPAMPA
We pick you up in your hotel located in Cusco at 4.am and drive for 3 hours to Soraypampa, where we have breakfast; after a delicious breakfast, we will continue for 1 more hour to Marcoccasa, the trailhead. We will follow for 4 hours an ancient aqueduct which supplies water to the farmers in the lower lands; the lunch place is at Soraypampa, which is also our campsite, in the afternoon we will visit the Humantay Lake at 4200mts.
DAY 2: SALKANTAYPAMPA – PAMPA JAPONESAFROZEN INCA PASS–PAUCARCANCHA.
Wake up early in the morning in your tent with a cup of coffee or tea; after breakfast with the mountains, we will start hiking towards the Salkantay Mountain until we reach Frozen Inca pass at 5100 meters high, after spending some time at the top, we start descending into the second campsite in Paucarcancha at 3300 meters.
DAY 3: PAUCARCANCHA – LLACTAPATA – KM 82 – OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES
After breakfast, we start hiking backward along the first day of the Classic the Inca Trail, visiting the Inca archaeological site of Paucarcancha, Wayllabamba, Patallaqta, Willkarakay. As you are trekking, you will be enthralled by the surrounding valleys and mountains' stunning views. After lunch, you will meet up with our private van and be transferred to the city of Ollantaytambo and take the train to Aguas Calientes, where you will stay the evening in anticipation of visiting the famous Machu Picchu Citadel.
DAY 4: AGUAS CALIENTES– MACHU PICCHUCUSCO
After breakfast in the hotel, we take the early buses up to Machu Picchu for the sunrise, explore Machu Picchu with your guide for about 3 hours; once you finish the tour, you will have time to explore the citadel, climb the extra mountains before taking the bus down to the city of Aguas Calientes from where you will take the Panoramic train and bus back to your hotel in Cusco.
