About this trip

Enjoy a day trip with Compass Pointe neighbors to Murrells Inlet, SC for an immersive Saltwater Eco Marsh Cruise.  This is a 2 hour cruise, fully narrated by a naturalist including a 30 minute beach walk.

The 80 passenger covered Explorer vessel, sets sail from Crazy Sister Marina at the Marshwalk in Murrells Inlet, navigating the saltwater estuary while getting a hands on experience  with sea life and learning about the SC Coastline!  Guests participate in a live dredge pull from the bottom of the inlet, the naturalist will pass around things found like snails, crabs, shells, sea urchins and more! Other organisms will be placed in our live touch tank onboard for all to observe. The crew will throw out a crab trap and pull up our native Blue Crabs for a demo - explaining why they live in our inlet and why they are important to conservation efforts surrounding the marshland. The naturalist will also explain the history of the inlet and the effects of hurricanes.  This tour also includes a beach walk on an untouched beach where guests get to pick up shells and other treasures to bring home!

Following the cruise, enjoy lunch at a restaurant of your choosing in the historic village of Murrells Inlet, known as the Seafood Capital of South Carolina and optional time for a stroll down the 1/2 mile wooden boardwalk.   Guests can choose from 8 restaurants and these options will be provided in advance of the trip.  Scroll down to read about the trip inclusions and itinerary.

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

Another great trip with Patty! Everything was (as always) well organized, and the tours were amazing. We learned a lot and had ample time to roam on our own. Donnie, the driver, is the absolute best. Many, many thanks!

This trip had a good combination of interesting sights, educational sessions (art, traditions, local geography) and leisure time. The bus ride was broken up by stops in North Carolina small communities so the ride did not seem so long. Patty does her research and strives to make sure everyone is having a good time. She is also very organized.
