A visit to the Umoja Women’s Camp & Village is the perfect Galentine’s getaway for women looking to bond, celebrate sisterhood, and immerse themselves in empowering cultural experiences. Nestled in the heart of Samburu, this remarkable village is a haven for women, offering a glimpse into a unique way of life led by resilience and independence.
From learning traditional beadwork to hearing stories of empowerment from the village's founders, every moment at Umoja fosters connection and inspiration. It's not just a trip, it's a celebration of women supporting women, surrounded by stunning landscapes and rich Samburu traditions.
We will leave Nairobi for Samburu on the evening of Friday - 14th February at midnight by road.
We will stop over at Isiolo for breakfast at 6am on Saturday 15th Feb then afterwards take pictures with the backdrop of Mt. Ololokwe before resuming with the journey.
Estimated arrival and check in time at the Umoja Women's Camp is 8am. After checking in, we'll rest and relax for a couple of hours before heading to visit the Umoja Village at 10 am.
We'll return to the camp for lunch at 1 pm then head out for an afternoon nature walk afterwards.
In the evening, there will be a bonfire and dancing after dinner then we'll retire to our respective rooms for the night.
We'll meet at 7am for breakfast then check-out of Umoja Women's Camp and head to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary at 7:30 am.
Expected arrival time at the Sanctuary is 9:00am so we can feed and see the elephants for 2 hours and then start heading back to Nairobi at 11am.
We'll have a stopover for lunch in Nanyuki at 2 pm before resuming our journey back to Nairobi.
The expected arrival time in Nairobi is 8pm.
