We’ll start our journey in Barcelona with a walking tour of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, the heart of the historic city of Barcelona. Here you can see the remains of the city’s Roman wall, as well as medieval landmarks. However, much of the “feel” of the quarter today stems from the 19th and 20th centuries. Our tour will give us both an insight into the past as well as show us how the city has evolved over centuries to become the modern metropolis we know today.

We'll also visit La Boquería which is a large public market in the Ciudad Vieja district of Barcelona. There we will learn more about Spain’s diverse and delicious cuisine and begin getting a taste of the Mediterranean flavors. We'll end the night enjoying a delicious meal, great company, and some live music!

La Sagrada Familia is a large unfinished Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, and perhaps one of Spain’s most iconic buildings. We will enjoy a guided tour and you’ll then be given free time to explore independently before heading to lunch!

Before our daily siesta, we will enjoy a street art tour to appreciate Barcelona’s bustling street art scene and juxtapose this more modern art form with the classic art founds in many museums and buildings around Barcelona.

Today’s activity centers around a day trip to Montserrat for hiking & wine tasting at a family-run vineyard. We will also enjoy a delicious lunch at the farm and take in the expansive views from this impressive mountain destination that first came to life in 1025 when a new monastery was founded at the hermitage of Santa Maria de Montserrat.

We will head Barceloneta for a laid-back day on the beach, or for those looking for a little more adventure, we are happy to help set up some water activities!

Come evening time, you can learn more about Spanish cuisine and the unique ingredients and influences behind it in an interactive cooking class and dinner!

Parque Guell is a public park system composed of gardens and architectural elements located on Carmel Hill, in Barcelona. The park was built from 1900 to 1914 and was officially opened as a public park in 1926. In 1984, UNESCO declared the park a World Heritage Site under "Works of Antoni Gaudí".

After lunch, we will head to the airport and hop on a short flight to Granada. Upon arriving in Granada we will check into our hotel and get settled in before dinner!

We will begin our day in Granada with a stroll through the Albaicín neighborhood and a visit to the Alcaiceria Market to shop for Moroccan goods as we learn about the Arabic influence in Spain and the 700 + year Arab occupation that took place from 711 to 1492. 

After a light lunch and a stop at Heladería Los Italianos for the best gelato of your life! Finally, we'll have a big night out as we appreciate flamenco-style music and dance in the Gypsy Caves of Sacromonte!

One of Spain's most famous points of interest, La Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex that was originally constructed on the remains of Roman fortifications in 889 AD and later rebuilt in the mid-13th century. Inside the palace are two museums: the Museo de la Alhambra and the Museo de Bellas Artes. We will enjoy a guided tour and then have free time to explore independently before lunch!

As we will have seen and discussed frequently at this point in the trip, Arab influence in Spain isn’t just a thing of the past. The culture is alive and well in the country today and this afternoon we will get a taste of it as we enjoy a class with our local host and learn how to make traditional Arab desserts and enjoy fresh teas!

We will check out of our hotel and hit the road to make the short drive to Málaga, where we will visit an olive farmer to learn about olive oil production in Spain and enjoy tapas and wine at the family farm.

After we’ve settled into our hotel for the evening we will meet up with our local guide and take the metro outside of town for a sunset hike, giving us beautiful views of the city, mountains, and the sea. Additionally, if the weather permits we will even be able to see the continent of Africa!
