First, we will be transported from Puerto Ayora to the Itabaca Canal where we will take the boat that will take us to this unforgettable adventure. (40 min approx)
After a navigation of approximately 2hrs we disembark at the pier located in Bartolomé where we will start a walk to the Lighthouse of the Island by a wooden path where it has around 367 steps to the top where we can observe a landscape of the most famous of the Galapagos.
The main attraction of this visit site is its geological composition of volcanic type that can be seen from the different viewpoints of the trail. Likewise, the peninsula and the beaches that are on both sides, constitute the landscape of greater demand of the archipelago.
The site of visit the Staircase is located on Bartolomé Island, the same one that has a path built of wood that has a route of 795 meters.
The Tower or the Pinnacle, between the two beaches, is part of a tuff cone, this type of cones is formed from sedimented volcanic ash. Geologically Bartolomé is a young island due to the characteristics it presents. It is an ideal place for
observe so-called pioneer plants such as Tiquilia nesiotica, T. fusca and Chamaesyce spp.
After the visit we will enjoy a delicious lunch to perform our next activity that has as destination a walk on Santiago Island around Sullivan Bay a large lava flow that was due to an eruption in 1889.
After the visit we will finally enjoy our aquatic activity around Santiago to observe the wonderful marine life that Galapagos offers us.
The main attractions from the landscape point of view of this site are the beaches, the sand dunes and the pinnacle. There are two beaches, the same ones that are communicated by a small path, both sites are preferred places for the nesting of sea turtles (Chelonia mydas).
The beach located to the north is the site used for the disembarkation of visitors. It is also a place where you can snorkel. The beach located to the south is a nesting site for sea turtles and you can also observe near the shore tintoreras resting.
Bartolomé Island is considered one of the main sites where you can see colonies of penguins of the species Spheniscus mendiculus, the same ones that nest in the small bay. Finally, we have the navigation back to Santa Cruz Island, where we can sometimes observe dolphins and other species. Enjoy the sailing trip!
