Welcome to your invitation for an extraordinary adventure in Sardinia, an island famed not just for its stunning coasts, but as one of the world's five original Blue Zones—regions where people live the longest, healthiest lives.
This isn't just a vacation with amazing friends and women; it's a deep dive into the secrets of longevity, blending cultural exploration with genuine wellness. Our trip is focused on experiencing the nine lifestyle habits that foster long life, as lived daily by the Sardinian people.
Our trip begins in Cagliari, whether you decide to arrive a day or two early, or the morning of, we will gather you from the airport and drive to our first village stay
Stroll through the village and observe the beautiful carved architraves of Catalan-Gothic influence, the archaic basalt containers ( sos lacchittos ) of the fountains from which the spring water flows. Pass below the unusual structures that connect the small houses in front ( bovedas) and note the imprint of the ridge made with cane on the arch. Then, use the succession of Carnival photographs scattered around the historic centre as a guide, you’ll see the story of a tradition that binds horse and rider to the local community in images.
Take a little more time and get to know the origin of the agro-pastoral and artisanal culture, and also the ancient history of the popular liturgical and paraliturgical polyvocality that make up the two important aspects of the tradition which you can still experience today.
Lunch in the village at 13:00.
This is a poetic medieval village in the hinterland of Oristano. Romantic and beautiful all year round, the village is bathed in ancient sacred and profane tradition; its culture is founded on knowledge and understanding expressed in small economies and respect for the seasons, the earth and its inhabitants.
Meet our guide to learn more about the history of the area. One of the most important sacred areas of Sardinia, it is located within a large olive grove; spending time in the loveliness of this place may be refreshing.
Since the 13th century AD. small houses have gathered (the so-called muristenes or cumbessias ) around the small church dedicated to Santa Cristina. From here you reach the Nuragic village (1700 century BC) with the single tower nuraghe and elongated huts and the sanctuary where the well temple is located (1200- 1000 BC). The well harbours a spring and is an example of the architecture of temples dedicated to the cult of water in Sardinia.
The gualqueria were built in the 18th century, simple stone buildings with wooden covers, were used for the crowning (beating) of the orbace, a typical Sardinian cloth obtained from sheep's wool. With the large wooden hammers driven by the water of the Rio Torrei, he beat the orbace to soften it and make it waterproof and more resistant.
While the mill was used to grind wheat produced in the Tìana valleys.
Orbace is an ancient fabric obtained from the spinning of sheep's wool through a specific processing, and it is the oldest known Sardinian fabric; it was produced in large quantities as early as 206 BC and was the most used traditional Sardinian fabric until 1900. It was of different quality and workmanship depending on the social categories for which it was intended and for various uses: from su gabbanu or saccu de imboddiare (shepherd's coat), to traditional costume clothing.
"The House of Flax" in Sardinian, is a traditional textile workshop and didactic center in the historic village of Tratalias, Sardinia, Italy. Run by artisan Arianna Pintus, the center preserves and teaches the ancient Sardinian art of flax processing. [1]
The experience at Sa Domu de Su Linu includes:
The Full Lifecycle: Visitors can observe the complete, authentic process of flax production, from planting the raw seed to carding, spinning, and finally weaving.
Hands-On Learning: Guests have the opportunity to try spinning and weaving on traditional Sardinian wooden looms themselves.
Artisanal Tapestry: The workshop serves as a gallery and studio where traditional and modern textile designs—such as Trame lente (slow weaves)—are created and exhibited.
Sheep are a huge part of the Sardinian way of life, and the sheepherders revered for their work to supply the milk and wool the island has always depended on. We'll squeeze into a local ancient hut to have a bite of local cheese, a sip of wine, and enjoy the history.
