About this trip

Find refuge from the distractions and busyness of daily life and come home to yourself.

This is a unique opportunity to slow down and be with yourself and others on a deeper level, and to practice genuine, true self care that you can integrate into daily life. We’ve designed our time together to be in line with Ayurvedic principles and the wisdom of the Insight meditation tradition so that you can experience what it’s like to live a life of balance. Your body and mind will feel nurtured and nourished, not only from the ayurvedically-aligned, high prana meals, but from re-aligning yourself with nature’s rhythms and spending time in community.

Mindfulness meditation invites us to quiet the mind and open the heart, and to connect more profoundly with both our inner life and the outer world. During morning meditation sessions with Celeste, we’ll practice sitting and walking meditation together, nourished by silence and stillness. There will be Dharma talks focused on Buddhist teachings from the Insight meditation tradition to settle the mind and open the heart.

After lunch, take time to rest, swim, spend time with friends or enjoy the Ayurvedic spa.

Ayurveda is 5,000+ year old system of holistic healing that teaches us how to take care of our body, mind and spirit by living in harmony with nature. During the afternoon sessions with Julie, you’ll learn in-depth ayurvedic philosophy and practical ayurvedic tools you can take home for balanced living.

All experience levels welcome - whether you're new to meditation and ayurveda or an experienced practitioner. This retreat is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all.

Men and women over the age of 18 are welcome on this retreat.

Where we're staying

We’ll be staying at The Shala Bali, a beautiful retreat center nestled between rice paddies and away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud town. It has everything you need for the week: an ayurvedic spa, a pool, and two healthy vegetarian cafes, and the town is a short 10 minute walk away.

Transportation

Fly into Denpasar Indonesia. From there, it’s a 90 minute drive to our retreat center. Roundtrip airport transfer is about $45.

If you’re coming from LA, we recommend taking one of the Friday late night / Saturday early morning flights. You’ll land in Bali on Sunday afternoon, and can book Sunday night at Shala Bali at a special rate for our students or a hotel of your choice to settle in before the retreat starts on Monday.

If you plan to leave right after the retreat, we recommend taking one of the Sunday late afternoon flights.

We’ve planned this retreat over Memorial Day weekend so that if you work Mon - Fri, you only have to take 4 days off work to join us!

Room options

Solo travelers are welcome, or you’re welcome to come with friends or a partner. If you’d like a shared room, we’ll assign you a roommate of the same gender, unless you request a specific roommate.

Trip insurance

We know that you’ll book this retreat with the intention of attending, but the unexpected does happen, which is why we HIGHLY recommend purchasing international travel/medical insurance. Please do spend the small amount of money to cover yourself for any travel or medical surprises on this trip; it’s worth it. We recommend using World Nomads.

Payment policy

Your deposit of $500 secures your spot on the trip and is nonrefundable. The balance is due February 25. There will be no refunds on deposits or balances for cancellations after February 25. Exceptions can not be made for any reason, including arriving late, leaving early, failure to attend, weather, flight cancellations, travel delays, personal emergencies or illness. We reserve to cancel the retreat for low enrollment or any other circumstances that make the retreat non-viable and will refund you 100% of your registration fee.

Julie and Celeste are truly angelic creatures. Their knowledge and delivery of meditation and Ayurveda were incredibly inspiring. I have started incorporating many of their teachings in my daily life. Julie's home is beautiful and the lunch provided was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time. I couldn't recommend this enough. Excellent value,

Lovely day of self care. The morning was all meditation, sitting and walking. Then an ayurvedic lunch, then learning about caring for the senses in an ayurvedic fashion in the afternoon. Super location in Malibu, overlooking the ocean. Really nice vibe, and Julie and Celeste were calm and warm. Recommend as a treat to yourself.
