This morning, visit the Oban Distillery. Hugh and John Stevenson opened the Oban Brewing Company in 1793.  “Cowbell Ale” was their first production. The following year, they started distilling whisky. In 1830, local merchant Peter Cumpstie purchased it in 1830 after being in the family for three generations. Travel to enchanting Loch Ness, best known for claimed sightings of the cryptozoological Loch Ness Monster, also known affectionately as “Nessie”.  Cruise around the lake to see if you might spot her. Proceed to Inverness, known as Scotland’s “Highland Capital,” it still however retains its old-town market feel.  B, D

Today enjoy a full day guided tour of Glencoe, Glennfinnan Viaduct, Fort William & Ben Nevis including admission to Urquhart Castle, considered the greatest castle in the Highlands. Climb the Grant Tower that presents stunning views over the iconic loch, peer into a prison cell and imagine the splendid banquets served in the great hall. Visit Glencoe Visitor Centre. Spend free time in Fort William.  B

This morning, journey to the Isle of Skye for a full day guided sightseeing tour. Skye is the largest of the Inner Hebrides, home to some of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes, with its mountain ranges, miles of dramatic coastline and captivating history. Discover the Talisker Classic Distillery on a tour in the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye. Set on the shores of Loch Harport, enjoy dramatic views of the Cuillins. Return to Inverness.  B

Your morning is free to meander through the Inverness Victorian Market. Walk around the outside of the famous Inverness Castle. Later, transfer to Culloden Battlefield & Visitor Centre to experience the famous battle of the rising Jacobites in 1745 as portrayed in “The Outlander”. Walk to  another famous setting in the series, Clava Cairns. Transfer to Glenfiddich Distillery for a tour and tasting. Explore the generations of gently maturing casks while learning about how this distillery refines their whiskey since 1886.  B 

Drive past Balmoral, the large estate house in Aberdeenshire and a residence of the British royal family as seen in the Series. Stop at Dunnottar Castle for a photo opportunity. Enjoy free time for lunch at St. Andrews and for a short walking tour. Drive to Falkland to see the Falkland Palace (Castle grounds & surrounding used as a backdrop of 18th century Inverness in Season 1). Continue to Stirling.  B, D 

After breakfast, visit Stirling Castle, one of the largest and most important castles in Scotland, both historically and architecturally. Visit Doune Castle (fictionally named “Castle Leoch, seat of the McKensie clan in Season 1). On to visit Blackness Castle (used as location of “Fort William”). Continue on to visit Midhope Castle (fictionally named “Lallybroch Castle”  in the Series.) Proceed to Edinburgh, sometimes called the “Athens of the North” by virtue of its rich cultural tradition. B
