About this trip

Join us Welcome to a journey through Scotland’s gardens and historic houses, with the Borderlands at its heart.

This is not a tour of hurried highlights. It is a slower, more attentive exploration of places where history and horticulture still live side by side. In the rolling country of the Scottish Borders we walk the paths of gardens shaped by centuries of care, step inside houses that hold the weight of family stories and political tides, and move through a landscape once marked by abbeys, reiver towers, and the quiet persistence of people who rooted themselves here.

From the soft hills and river valleys of the Borders we travel onward, seeking the particular beauty of Scotland’s historic estates and the gardens that give them life. We look for the details that reveal themselves only when you linger: the scent of box after rain, the way light falls across a long border, the sense that these places are still inhabited by their past.

This tour is for those who prefer presence over pace, and who find meaning in the layered conversation between land, house, and garden. Scotland keeps its best secrets close. We go looking for them together.

Our Tour

  • Glasgow — Scotland’s largest city and creative powerhouse. Victorian grandeur, lively streets, and a bold sense of its own story.

  • Edinburgh — The capital that wears its history openly. Medieval Old Town, elegant Georgian New Town, and an atmosphere that stays with you.

  • Traquair House — Scotland’s oldest inhabited house, quietly nestled in the Border hills. Family home for over 900 years, with Jacobite secrets, a working brewery, and gardens that feel deeply personal.

  • Inveraray Castle — Fairy-tale seat of the Dukes of Argyll above Loch Fyne. Turrets, formal gardens, and a perfect meeting of Highland landscape and elegant living.

  • St Andrews — Home of golf and Scotland’s oldest university. Grey stone, wide beaches, and a ruined cathedral that once ranked among the most important in the country.

  • Dunnottar Castle — Dramatic cliff-top ruins above the North Sea. Once a stronghold of the Earls Marischal and brief guardian of the Scottish Crown Jewels.

  • Peebles — Charming market town on the River Tweed in the heart of the Borders. An easy, settled base for exploring the great houses and gardens of the region.

  • Inverness — Capital of the Highlands, where the River Ness meets the Moray Firth. Compact, lively, and the natural gateway north.
