Baja Wild Encounters was born from a passion for wildlife and sustainability. Starting as a one-man effort by Jamie to reduce overfishing and create ethical tourism, we’ve grown into a dedicated team. Ana keeps operations running smoothly, Sofía handles reservations with care, and Elias, now a key guide, shares his deep knowledge of Baja’s marine life. We specialise in small-group adventures that prioritise unforgettable experiences while protecting wildlife and ecosystems. Welcome to the Baja Wild Encounters family!

Words aren't enough...! This expedition was one of an entire lifetime! Not only the absolutely amazing encounters we've had the luck to experience, but also the amazing people running this operation! Animals come first and that's exactly what we were looking for as more and more operators are offering this kind of expeditions regardless of the well being of wildlife. All the staff is as friendly as highly professional, they're deeply knowledgeable about any sea wildlife you're wondering about, the presentations are really interesting, you get to spend high quality time every single day! Between 8 and 10 hours at sea, depending on what we meet, they really put a lot of efforts to ensure everyone's happy and fulfilled! (Don't forget, the encounters will never be guaranteed as it's wildlife, but come with all the good vibes you have within and the stunning sea of Cortez will send it back to you!) Not to mention, the villa is incredible, and the food from the chief is absolutely delicious ! If you're still hesitating....I don't get why ! Big thanks to Jamie, Alba, Le roux, Lorenzo, Manuel, Chris for those amazing moments shared together! You'll see me again for sure !

I went with them 4 times to show how much I have loved it :D From the organization with Ana to Sofia that are very nice and always here to help to the guide Mikel that was great. Top notch destination and a lovely outfit. Great to be in the waters with folks who love the ocean and what they do. Sperm whales, sea lions, mobulas, Silky shark, Bryde's whale and humpback - All high quality sightings.

BWE was our choice because of all the hype on their website about "the animal comes first ". And they put that to practice, they don't just say it to get you in. Having been in the dive industry for 16 years, I know this is the only way. Not only does it make for a sustainable practice, but it also allows for the best encounters. If the animal isn't into it, it's a waste of time. And so, most of our encounters were from the boat. They provide you with drone footage afterwards. The mobulas weren't in a good mood during our outings (probably due to orcas in the area), but we still had a blast. All the guides were super knowledgeable, and we leave a special shout out to Mikel and the great sense of humor. Food is nice, captains are competent, knowledgeable and respectful.

We had an unforgettable experience with Ocean Safari in Baja California! The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about marine life. They took the time to explain everything in detail, sharing fascinating facts about the animals we encountered. What truly stood out was their deep respect for the wildlife. All interactions were done with care and always based on the animal’s willingness to engage. It was inspiring to see such ethical and responsible ecotourism in action. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the ocean in a respectful and meaningful way!

The perfect trip doesn’t exis…..but WAIT! Oh, YES! it does! Baja Wild Encounters really delivered- and not just an ecotour, but an experience. The adventure and the wildlife were as much the main event as the hospitality-the people, the amazing food (prepared fresh daily by local chefs ) and of course, the cliffside beachfront accommodations! I journeyed to Baja California Sur to join the 8 day mobula ray expedition with Baja Wild Encounters and it went above and beyond my expectations! I found Baja Wild Encounters on Instagram and was immediately wowed by the amount and biodiversity of wildlife they featured on their Instagram account. I can tell you it’s just as amazing in person as it is online because we not only saw mobula rays but also orcas, blue whales, dolphins and many others-including some rare encounters like the dwarf sperm whale! We even dropped a hydrophone in the water to listen to sperm whales. Very cool! All of the guides were very knowledgeable and respectful of the animals we were viewing and their environment, with an emphasis on viewing them on their terms. We spent 5 days on the boat, but when not on the boat we enjoyed world class family-style meals, chilled by the pool or fire, visited local restaurants, and did some exploring -one of the side excursions was a night SUP with lights looking for wildlife that’s active at night. And it wouldn’t be complete without some 2000s Usher Karaoke, but Jamie can tell you more about that! Really, this trip was a breath of fresh air -8 hrs a day of it to be exact while cruising around the Sea of Cortez. It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times so book this trip! All you need is a sense of adventure... and a wetsuit!
