The trip was absolutely fantastic. Lots of complicated logistics that were all executed seamlessly. The accomodations and food were all 5 stars and it was a wonderful group of people to travel with in Peru. I would whole heartedly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to see Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.

I went into this trip not quite knowing what to expect. I knew I would see ancient ruins, colorful markets, and breathtaking landscapes, but what I didn’t realize was how deeply this journey would touch me on a spiritual and human level. Golden Journeys Travel delivered more than an itinerary; they guided me through an experience that surpassed anything I could have imagined. From the very beginning, I felt cared for. My dietary restrictions were honored everywhere we went, not as an afterthought, but as if they truly mattered. The most extraordinary moment of this came on our final evening in Cusco, when we dined at Cicciolina. The restaurant provided me with a completely separate menu created just for me. Each course had multiple choices, the menu itself bore my name, and the meal was nothing short of extraordinary. That gesture alone spoke volumes about the attention to detail and the heart behind this trip. But what really made this journey unforgettable was the way the experiences unfolded, one moment after another, each one meaningful on its own but together creating something profound. Listening to the Inca stories, I was struck by the symbolism of the three realms: the condor’s wings reaching for the heavens, the puma’s strong body here on earth, and the snake’s connection to the underworld. That imagery moved me deeply. I found myself reflecting on the Incas’ struggles, their triumphs, and the cycles of conquest and survival. And I couldn’t help but think of our world today—how humans have been fighting, conquering, and killing each other for centuries. What might our world look like if, instead of battling over ideas, we put our heads together and coordinated our efforts? That question has stayed with me. The human connections I made were just as powerful as the sacred sites. Our group, a gathering of strangers (to me) at the start, quickly became companions I now can’t imagine the trip without. We shared meals filled with laughter and joy, conversations that went deeper than small talk, and countless little moments of kindness. Traveling can sometimes feel lonely or transactional, but this felt like being welcomed into a family. I did face challenges along the way—vertigo and the altitude sometimes made even simple walking a struggle. At Machu Picchu, I couldn’t climb the site as others did, but I was able to join the group at the entrance, and even that felt significant. What mattered most was that I never felt shunned or judged. The guides and my fellow travelers were supportive in a way that made me feel included, not left behind. That kind of care isn’t something you can plan into an itinerary—it comes from the spirit of the people leading the journey. Looking back, what strikes me is not just the places I saw but the way the entire experience was woven together. It wasn’t a single moment that defined it, but a collection of moments—standing before ancient stones, sharing a story over a meal, pausing to catch my breath, laughing with new friends—that came together as one golden thread. I can say with complete certainty that this trip far exceeded anything I hoped for. Golden Journeys Travel created more than a vacation—they created a journey of spirit, heart, and connection. While Machu Picchu itself may not be for everyone, traveling with Golden Journeys is an experience you do not want to miss. This is the company you can trust to deliver something truly unforgettable. Tamara's trips are amazing. This was our third trip, and we are already planning our fourth. She does a great job of balancing adventures with downtime. Beware, good food is a priority, so you need to come prepared to eat. You will do plenty of walking, so don't worry about gaining weight!
