COMMUNITY SERVICE

The pristine marine life and ecosystem of the island of Jamaica are under serious threat from a variety of factors. These challenges include, climate change and overfishing by humans.

Work alongside local environmental conservationists and NGOs as you aid in their community outreach campaigns. By doing this, you’ll educate and bring awareness of various environmental issues to local community-based organizations. You’ll also assist locals in conservation efforts, including beach clean-ups, community upcycling, and recycling programs, tree planting programs, and leading community workshops.

As you embrace and support conservation efforts both in and out of the water, work at local NGOs sanctuaries, and help conserve wildlife and endangered animals.

HANDS-ON LEARNING

Students will acquire extensive knowledge of Marine biology as they will be guided by our partners and experts in the field of marine conservation.

Hear about environmental changes that come from human activity and how you can support marine restoration efforts. Explore and make an impact on the preservation of the precious ecosystem and environment through scuba diving and snorkeling. Students on the program will also engage in scientific monitoring and data collection.

ADVENTURE

Take a break away from conservation and marine life to have some fun. Experience some of Jamaica’s top attractions like the Bob Marley Museum. This is a must-see for any Reggae fan! The museum tells the story of this great artist and his impact on both music as well as culture.

Go to the Black River Safari for an exciting adventure through the Jamaican jungle. See wildlife anecdotes and then board a boat for a scenic ride downriver. Follow this up and get away from it all by visiting the beautiful seven-tier YS Falls with some of the most scenic views and relaxing gardens.

Experience an adventure on the private island of Lime Cay, which is 15 minutes from the famous Port Royal. This is a wonderful laid-back beach offering refuge from the hectic pace of life. It is like a little Island in heaven.
