We couldn’t be happier about the return of our beloved, longtime friend, Judith Hanson Lasater, to the Feathered Pipe Ranch. Judith is a renowned, masterful teacher who has for decades aided students in understanding how yoga shapes not just our everyday life, but our entire being. Every level of practitioner is warmly welcome to be part of this very special week — from beginners to teachers — of embracing yoga as a practice of who we are, not simply something we “do.”
Your daily schedule during this week with Judith will include two practice periods. Each morning, after you’ve greeted the day’s soft light, savored the early birdsong soundtrack, and finished your delicious breakfast, together we’ll set a practice intention based on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. Next, you’ll enjoy an active yoga practice to challenge your body with compassion and draw your mind inward through curiosity and focus on the postures. Each afternoon, you’ll settle deeply into restorative poses to unwind and decompress. Judith is a pioneer in Restorative Yoga, so you’ll not want to miss these luxurious afternoons of settling into deep relaxation. Each day will also include pranayama and a dedicated period for meditation.
Afternoons between lunch and class are wide open for you to do whatever you choose: hike, read, nap, swim, socialize, or simply BE without doing. Judith strongly encourages the latter! Judith requests that you leave your work at home and fully drop into the experience of this week. Evenings will include one question and answer about teaching and practicing which will be open to all, as well as a presentation by JoAnn Lyons, Judith’s long-time assistant, on her work with students facing great challenges from disabilities.
It wouldn’t be Judith’s workshop without Friday night’s signature talent show and follies – so remember to bring an instrument, a poem to read, a joke, or a dance to share. We 100 percent guarantee that all acts will be enthusiastically applauded. And here’s a very inspired idea! If one week at the Ranch with Judith is heavenly (it is), two in a row is almost indescribably divine: treat yourself to a Feathered Pipe double-header and join Judith as she supports her talented daughter, Lizzie, for an enlivened week following this retreat.
RETREAT TIP! Extend your time in peace and beauty while savoring Western hospitality by spending some time exploring the great West’s National Park treasures either before or after your retreat with Judith at the Ranch. Glacier National Park is a glorious and scenic 3.5-hour drive north and west of Feathered Pipe, while Yellowstone is just a 4.5 hour drive south and east of the Ranch through some of the prettiest Western territory you’ll ever see.
Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D, PT, taught at the very first workshop ever held at Feathered Pipe Ranch in 1975. “The Pipe” has become a touchstone for her, her family, her friends and her students.
