I would like to thank Addy and the cooks for the most delicious meals ever ! Every single meal was absolutely wonderful 🤗 Kevin was so attentive to every detail of our stay and transportation was meticulously handled with care and communication every step of the way . Thank you ! A little birdy told me that air conditioning may be available in the near future which I’m sure will be much appreciated in the hot summer months ❤️ Marta’s Mayan massage and egg reading was amazing and definitely recommended by this reviewer 🥰

This was an incredible experience! Insightful and thoughtful teacher training experience, delicious food, awesome accommodations, and gorgeous surroundings. Sarah was such a wonderful teacher and I learned so much that I’ve carried with me in my teaching. Lisa and Addy were awesome hosts and made the process so smooth and stress-free. And Addy’s cooking was unmatched! I’ve never eaten so well in my life! I’m an outdoorsy kinda girl, so spending this time in Joshua Tree made it that much better. I even had time to visit the national park when I was there! I highly recommend this school and the Joshua Tree location. I didn’t want it to end!

As a first time retreat host after attending the programs in both Joshua tree and, I truly appreciated the Kootenay Yoga School’s amazing staff assistance planning. They helped me create a perfect schedule to take advantage of Isla’s offerings. They were also invaluable to my guests as they planned their travel, answering all their questions with patience. The food and location is perfect, and my guests are now as much in love with the island as I am. Highly recommended!

I did my yoga teacher training on Isla through Kootenay in 2022 and it was an amazing experience. The location is beautiful and you do get some free time to explore the area. Michelle was an amazing instructor and I genuinely learned so much and was able to deepen my practice and build confidence creating flows and classes. They made most meals for us, which were delicious and healthy. They also even had entertainment some nights like a live band and fire dancers. I still talk to the other students that I did the program with sometimes and met up with one girl when I was in her town a year later! Overall a transformative experience where I made memories, learned new things and met really cool people.

Kootenay Yoga School Review Overall Going to Kootenay Yoga School (Joshua Tree, California) was one of the best decisions of my life. I learned so much about myself, about yoga, and met the most incredible people there! I met my yoga family <3. Setting and Accommodations Joshua Tree is unlike anywhere I have ever been. It feels like you are on another planet! The weather is usually cool at night and then warm during the day. It’s seemingly always sunny, with dry air. The Joshua Trees look like a mix between a palm tree and a cactus. The ground is sandy, and it feels amazing to walk around barefoot all the time. The property there is beautifully designed and all very aesthetically pleasing. There were a bunch of cute camper style vans and the slumber party cabin for staying in. The beds were comfortable and cozy. Then there was the main cabin with the kitchen, living space, and indoor washroom. There was an outdoor shower and bathtub, where I would shower every day. The yurt was my favourite place to study, practice yoga, and find some moments of quiet. Other nice features of the property included a campfire, cold plunge and hot tub. As the “cold plunge queen” I believe there was nothing more refreshing than jumping into that little pool. Food Addy and Gael made us 3 delicious vegetarian feasts per day. The love and creativity that went into those meals is inexplicable. If you are afraid of feeling hungry while you are there – don’t be! I have never eaten so much food… and it was all super yummy and healthy. Note: Everything was measured with the heart, so there are no recipes, but Addy has a really nice food Instagram account if you want to see pictures of all her magical food creations. Also, silent eating is an experience that I recommend trying! Please do yourself a favour and enjoy the pleasure of eating without the distractions of talking. Food has never been so wonderful. People The people! This experience would not have been what it was without the people. As an introvert, I did not go on this trip with the goal of meeting people. I went to learn how to teach yoga. But once I got there, I met the most incredible humans from all over the world. I met my yoga family <3. Addy is adventurous, energetic, and beyond friendly. She embodies the phrase “carpe diem”. She is so full of life, it’s amazing. (However, if she ever tells you that you are going on a casual walk, please wear running shoes. Her version of a walk is hiking up a mountain!) Sarah is calm, reassuring, knowledgeable, healing, and super bad a$#. She is the kind of person that saves spiders, and any other living thing that exists. Sarah may be found meditating through an apocalypse, completely unfazed, or climbing a mountain in a dress like the female warrior goddess she is. Sarah is the kind of person that does what she wants in the purest way, and would also help anyone that ever needed it. Yoga I really loved the emphasis on yoga for the chakras. We did 2 hours of yoga in the morning before silent breakfast. We also did a lot of meditations and activities (e.g., mandala colouring, ecstatic dancing, sound bowls, etc.). The practicum teaching portion was not intimidating at all – everyone was very supportive. I also enjoyed that many different styles of yoga were embraced. You were given a lot of freedom to choose how you teach yoga.

What an incredible experience. The staff at Kootenay provide the highest level of care. They go above and beyond to accommodate their students and ensure the highest standards in their meals and education. EJ was an incredible teacher and so encouraging. I felt so welcomed and at home in Joshua Tree. Thank you Lisa, Addy, and EJ!
