The Hero’s Journey is one of the most universally recognized storytelling frameworks, tracing the path of a protagonist as they embark on a transformative adventure. This archetypal narrative structure can be found in countless works of literature, from Greek mythology to modern movies, but it also applies to each of us! The concept of the Hero's Journey aligns with the path of a yoga retreat, mirroring the common stages that a hero undergoes—ranging from the Call to Adventure, through trials and transformation, to the eventual Return.
This is Your Call To Adventure! This retreat offers practices and deep-dive workshops to aid in your transformation. Mornings begin with chanting, attuning to sacred vibrations through voice before turning awareness inward for meditation. From this state of calm abiding we explore thoughtfully themed movement sequences to both soothe and challenge the body and mind. Morning practice concludes with pranayama, harnessing the power of the breath. In addition to daily practice, workshops, guided meditations and journaling explorations are offered, to expand your understanding of the broader scope of yoga and to heighten self-awareness. A deep, intensive exploration of yoga, coupled with time in community, all the while immersed in the Greek island vibe, will prepare you to return home, rested, rejuvenated, inspired, more balanced and resilient - truly transformed.
Anerousses is a private, family-run retreat estate perched along the rugged coastline of Choulakia, just outside Mykonos Town. Overlooking the sparkling Aegean Sea and the sacred island of Delos, the property offers a rare balance of natural beauty, tranquility, and accessibility—close enough to experience the energy of Mykonos, yet set apart in a peaceful, restorative setting. Just a short 10-minute walk downhill brings you to a quiet pebble beach, perfect for a refreshing swim or a moment of stillness by the water. A 15 minute drive takes you to your choice of beautiful sandy Mykonos beaches.
The estate is thoughtfully arranged across three distinct villas—Anastasia, Despoina, and Daphne—each offering its own atmosphere while sharing a cohesive Cycladic aesthetic of whitewashed walls, stone architecture, and open-air living. At the heart of the property, you’ll find the main pool, reception, and dining areas, creating a central space for gathering, meals, and connection. Anastasia offers a more elevated, social experience with its own private infinity pool and shared terrace, while Daphne provides a quieter, more tucked-away setting. Despoina sits closest to the main amenities, offering convenience and easy access to the daily rhythm of the retreat.
Accommodations are minimalist and range from private rooms to shared spaces, with a variety of layouts including apartment-style rooms, split-level designs, and flexible sleeping arrangements. Nearly all rooms feature sea views, terraces or balconies, en-suite bathrooms, and in some cases kitchen or living areas, allowing for both privacy and connection. Whether you prefer your own quiet sanctuary or a more social shared experience, each space is designed to feel comfortable, relaxed, and connected to the surrounding landscape.
Rooms are equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, toiletries, fresh towels, and daily cleaning service, ensuring a comfortable and effortless stay. Laundry services may be available upon request for an additional fee.
Your stay includes daily breakfast, six dinners, Mykonos airport or Ferry port transfers, and full access to all retreat spaces including pools, terraces, and common areas. Participants will also enjoy a thoughtfully curated program of yoga practices, workshops, and group experiences designed to support both restoration and transformation.
Participants can expect a setting that naturally supports both restoration and connection—morning practices overlooking the sea, afternoons spent by the pool or exploring the island, and evenings gathering under the open sky. Anerousses offers an environment that feels intimate, grounded, and expansive all at once, creating the perfect backdrop for a deeply immersive and transformative retreat experience.
