Welcome to Italy

On your first day in Italy, you will meet your tour manager at the Grand Hotel Palatino in Rome. This will be your home for the next four nights of your Italian adventure. Your tour manager will give you an itinerary for the next 13 days and a meeting list if you want to attend one or more while on your tour. He will also give you time to settle before meeting in the lobby to head out on our first adventure.

Once everyone has arrived, we will head to our meet and greet which will take place on top of an open-air double-decker bus that will drive us around the streets of Rome. Here you will have a chance to meet your fellow sober travelers as well as enjoy an array of NA beverages as we pass by some of Rome's most famous sites.

When our social has come to an end the bus will drop you off at a nearby restaurant (TBD) to enjoy our first group dinner. We will have a lovely pre-fixe meal filled with classic Italian dishes and desserts. From there we will return to the hotel to rest up for the next day’s activities.

Rome in a Day

At every hotel you stay, breakfast will be provided to energize you for the day ahead. The group will then meet in the hotel to embark on our first group tour. So, put on your walking shoes and get your cameras ready for a day of seeing the sites.

They say that Rome wasn’t built in a day. But can you see it in a day? Of course not, but we’re going to try. This Rome-in-a-day walking tour will consist of visiting the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel, famous sites such as Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, and ending with exploring the Colosseum. This all-day walking tour is a full day of history and culture led by a certified tour guide

Once our tour is over, we will head to Coming Out Bar for a quick refreshment and snacks to cool down after our day sightseeing. Coming Out Bar is the first LGBTQ space in Rome that offers café seating with an excellent kitchen. While here we will enjoy a variety of appetizers for a small taste of Italy before returning to the hotel.

* Includes Breakfast, Lunch, and Appetizers

On free days your tour manager will always have an optional activity for you to participate in. SGA always wants to offer fellowship and accountability on this vacation, no one will ever be on their own.

A Taste of Rome

Put on those elastic band shorts because today you are going to eat. On this 3-hour food tour, we will be having four courses along the way. Eating delicious sandwiches, amazing cheeses, authentic pasta, and the best gelato in Rome. You might need a nap after this afternoon's activity.

And that is exactly what you can do. The rest of the afternoon is up to you. Your tour manager will guide the group to the hotel for those who want to return. For those who wish to explore, feel free.

That evening the group will head to the Spanish Steps to grab one last meal at  Pastifico Guerra. There are only two options at this pasta stand. Meat or no meat. But one thing for sure is it's delicious. We will then grab a tiramisu and your tour manager will bring you to enjoy a beautiful view of Rome to celebrate our last night in this ancient city.

A Walking Tour and a Big Naked Guy

Like our time in Rome, we will hit the biggies in a day. Our day will start with a skip-the-line tour of the Accademia Gallery where you will find the statue of David. This glorious statue is not to be missed by anyone visiting Florence. Once inside our expert guide will inform the group of the history of this glorious statue and the other works of art that surround it.

Our tour will continue as our guide takes us to see the highlights of the city before breaking for lunch. Your tour manager will take you to have a fantastic panini in the art district where you will have the opportunity to explore and see some local artists before heading to meet our tour guide as they take us through the Uffizi Galleries to see some of the world’s most famous works of art.

You’ll have a few hours to rest before we head to Sabatino, a classic Italian restaurant that has been around since 1956. The food is simple, but some of the best you will taste in all of Italy. This family-run restaurant is one of the few spots in Florence that hasn’t changed since it first opened. A great way to end our first full day in Florence.
