The Shrines of Chicago pilgrimage on December 12th, 2024, will include visits to three beautiful shrines, the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii. Each stop offers a unique opportunity for prayer and reflection. We will have mass and lunch together, and our pilgrimage will conclude with a visit to Daley Plaza, where we will enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Christkindlmarket, filled with holiday charm and delicious treats!

We will board the bus from St. Mary, Huntley at 7:30am and head to our first stop The Shrine of our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe will provide a beautiful start to our pilgrimage. The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines, Illinois, a sacred site that draws thousands of faithful each year, particularly during the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th. Established in 1987 to honor the Virgin Mary’s apparition to St. Juan Diego in 1531, this beautiful shrine offers a peaceful atmosphere for prayer and reflection. Pilgrims can attend daily Mass, participate in confessions, and explore the outdoor altar and devotional spaces. It is a cherished destination for those devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Shrine of St. Frances Cabrini is a place of peace and reflection dedicated to the first naturalized American saint. As the patroness of immigrants, Mother Cabrini devoted her life to serving the poor and vulnerable, especially immigrants in the United States. The shrine, located in the heart of the city, is a serene place of prayer, offering a glimpse into the legacy of this remarkable woman. Pilgrims can reflect on her life and mission, venerate her relics, and visit the peaceful chapel where her spiritual work continues to inspire thousands today.
Enjoy a delightful lunch at Salerno's, a charming Italian restaurant known for its rich history and mouth watering cuisine. With its warm, inviting atmosphere, Salerno's offers a menu filled with classic Italian favorites, from homemade pasta to delicious pizzas. This is the perfect spot to relax, share a meal with fellow pilgrims, and make new friends!
As part of our pilgrimage, we will visit the Church of the Holy Family. This is one of Chicago's oldest Catholic churches. Founded in 1857 and one of the few buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire. This Beautiful Church holds over 160 years of faith, resilience, and architectural beauty. Marvel at its stunning Gothic Revival architecture, historic stained glass, and serene atmosphere.
As the final stop on our pilgrimage, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the festive magic of Chicago’s Christkindlmarket, an annual outdoor holiday market inspired by traditional German Christmas markets. Located in the heart of the city at Daley Plaza, this lively market offers a charming blend of European holiday traditions, delicious food and drink, unique handcrafted gifts, and festive entertainment. Visitors can browse booths filled with ornaments, toys, and artisanal goods while enjoying authentic German treats like bratwurst, pretzels, and spiced Glühwein. The Christkindlmarket brings a joyful holiday spirit, making it a memorable stop for all to enjoy the warmth and cheer of the season.
