Size 40 or larger catamaran, no older than 6 years
A small motorboat that we will use to go on shore and also to have some fun with while anchored in bays
1st and last nights in the base marina
Photos and (drone) videos of the trip
It is the crew's responsibility to buy provisioning for the week before the start of the trip. A shopping list will be sent out and agreed upon before departure
Sailing expenses consist of provisioning, refuelling, marina fees, national park fees and any other unspecified sailing related expenses that can occur during the trip
It is tradition to provide for your skipper. The principle is: the skipper serves the crew, the crew feeds the skipper
A refundable security deposit will be collected for potential damages to the boat. This is €250 per person and will be collected before boarding the catamaran, and refunded after inspection.
We call the day we meet day 0 (zero). This is the day we meet up and board our catamaran. On day 0 we will do the grocery shopping, get to know each other and go through an in-depth safety briefing for the week. We will familiarise with our catamaran, our new home for the week. In the evening we can cook our first meal on board or enjoy one of the restaurants nearby.
After our first night on the catamaran the adventure finally begins! We will leave the Marina behind, and set sails for Lipari or Vulcano island. You will have the chance to participate in sailing tasks and even get your own hands on the helm and steer our catamaran!
Our week of adventure and freedom will be in full swing and we can decide where to go and what to do. We can stop for a lunch break in a wild bay, go for a swim and even use the dinghy to go to otherwise unreachable beaches.
After our lunch break we will set sail for our final stop, ideally near a coastal town so we can explore the local culture of the island.
On the following days we explore, sail and have fun! Depending on the weather and sea conditions we can visit as many islands as possible, including Stromboli with its active volcano. This is for the truly adventurous people: we will wake up before sunrise and sail to the north side of the island from where we can hopefully see the volcano spitting lava! This is a truly unique experience, once that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Salina island is also within our reach, with its fantastic local town, amazing shopping and authentic local restaurants. For the active adventurers there are also some hikes available, to explore the nature of this fantastic island.
Vulcano island will be one of our stops too, with its sulfur baths and active volcano that we can actually hike. The views from the top are breathtaking!
On Friday, our day 6 we will head back to the base marina. We will have most of the day for us, as we only have to return at 5pm in the afternoon. This gives us plenty of time for more swimming, hiking and sailing!
Once back at base, we will refuel the catamaran and do our last docking. The staff of the charter company will come and inspect the boat for damages.
We have one more night on the boat so we can take it easy. We can pack up our things, go for one last dinner together and have a good night's sleep on the catamaran before disembarking.
On Saturday, our day 7 we have to leave the catamaran at 9 in the morning. This is usually the saddest moment, when we say goodbye to each other after our amazing week at sea. We will be full of memories and hopefully beautiful pictures and videos that we can share with each other to remember our trip.
