In the heart of our journey, Kootenay Yoga School was created from a profound belief in holistic well-being. Recognizing the challenges of modern life, where daily routines can become repetitive cycles of wakefulness, nourishment, work, and rest, we felt the need for a sanctuary that transcends the ordinary. Our vision materialized as Kootenay Yoga School, an embodiment of holistic living.

Could not have asked for a better experience to complete my 200hr YTT! The program was an intense 2 weeks and Addy, Lisa and Stacy put in a lot to make this experience incredibly magical. In addition to two yoga classes/day and LOTS of studying and learning, we were provided home cooked vegetarian meals 3x/day and almost every night there was a special ceremony or bonding session held for the group. The island itself is very safe and the rooms have decent space with a kitchenette provided as well (also hot showers yay!). Expect to put some hard work but know that what comes out of it is absolutely worth it and there are lots of fun treats along the way!

I had the most amazing time at my YTT in Kootenay Yoga School in Isla Mujeres - the training was intense but so worth it! Stacy our yoga teacher worked hard to ensure we learned everything we possibly could during our 2 weeks, ready for our assessment day. We were so well looked after, the food was just incredible (we’ve all left feeling so healthy and well-nourished!) and the team went above and beyond to ensure we were all happy and safe. A couple of tips for anyone looking to travel to Isla for their YTT… 1. Except island life… Bring cash (pesos) as there is only one ATM on the island, and nearly all places nearby want cash payment! 2. If you have time on your day off and it’s available, go on a whale shark adventure! I’m so glad I did it as it’s a memory I’ll treasure forever. 3. See the sunrise and sunset whenever you can on the island - it was so beautiful. 4. Swat up on your theory as you go, as the exam comes up quickly and there is a lot to learn! Study in the evenings to relieve the pressure in the few days leading up (as you also have your practical exam to think of then as well). I truly recommend Kootenay Yoga School and look forward to continuing to spread their amazing teaching around the world as I teach!

I had the most incredible experience in Grand Forks at the 200hr yoga program. From activities, to practise, to exam and to all of the little moments in between I will never forget the memories I have made here! Sarah our yoga instructor was passionate and highly experienced and made ALL of us feel comfortable and welcome no matter our previous experience. I feel I have deepened my practise and learnt so much about the philosophy and theory aspects behind yoga. Our food was absolutely incredible, fresh ingredients and magical flavours that really elevated the experience. I especially loved the on the go lunches if we were going out of base camp to do activities in the local town. On a personal note: I made friends for life at this course, as someone completely new to Canada who didn’t know anyone coming out here, this has changed my experience and my life for the better. a huge thank you to Sarah, Addy, Lisa and all involved to make this happen - you are magic makers and life changers! Xx

I had the best time here and felt so taken care of. Shout out to Marcia, Kevin, Addy, and the amazing crew. The food was so delicious. On hot days we had lessons in and around the pool to stay cool in the Mexican heat. The classes were very thorough and I feel confident in my ability to teach yoga now. THANK YOU & namaste! <3

I did my yoga teacher training on Isla through Kootenay in 2022 and it was an amazing experience. The location is beautiful and you do get some free time to explore the area. Michelle was an amazing instructor and I genuinely learned so much and was able to deepen my practice and build confidence creating flows and classes. They made most meals for us, which were delicious and healthy. They also even had entertainment some nights like a live band and fire dancers. I still talk to the other students that I did the program with sometimes and met up with one girl when I was in her town a year later! Overall a transformative experience where I made memories, learned new things and met really cool people.
