We begin the excursion from Puerto Villamil by land transportation at 8:00 am to reach the slopes of the Sierra Negra volcano in approximately 45 minutes.
From this place we begin the tour on horseback and/or hike to our first point
of visit.
1.- Hiking: We will begin the walk towards the Sulfur Mines, during the walk we will have some panoramic views to appreciate the crater of the Sierra Negra volcano , the most famous active volcano in the Galapagos.
While we walk to the summit among low vegetation, on a path without much inclination.
2.- Crater: After a walk of approximately 1.50 km, we will reach the cliffs of the crater to see the imposing Sierra Negra volcano up close .
With unique panoramic views that will take you to another planet. We will be able to enjoy beautiful views and feel the wind run through our body and feel in a unique and special place.
In this place we can see some vegetation and cacti that stand out among the volcanic rock.
With a clear sky, we can see other islands such as Fernandina Island, Santiago Island and Pinzón Island.
3.- Sulfur Mines: After enjoying the beautiful views while walking the trail, we continue our visit to the Sulfur Mines.
Full of greenish, yellowish and whitish soils that we can find while we walk between small smoking craters, lava tunnels and incredible panoramic views full of smoke.
In this place we can see almost no vegetation due to the strong sulfur chemicals. Small craters and steaming lava tunnels for you to discover.
