Depart hotel: 9:00am
Return: 1:00pm approx.
Depart your central Singapore hotel and travel (about 30-40 minutes) to the north-west to an area known as the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. The invasion site defended by the 22nd Brigade is a restricted military area but this location on the northern end and in between the positions defended by the 22nd and 27th Brigade, provides an ideal vantage point to understand the mammoth task of our Australian soldiers.
Proceed onto the Kranji War Cemetery (Kranji Memorial), the final resting place of nearly 4,500 service personnel. The unique ‘winged’ structure at the top of the hill is the Singapore Memorial which bears the names of over 24,000 persons who have no known grave. Spend time walking around the beautifully landscaped grounds and offer quiet reflection on their sacrifices.
Your final stop is the Former Ford Factory, the location where the British surrender occurred on the 14th February 1942, Stand in the room where the surrender took place before viewing the museum dedicated to the story of the Fall of Singapore and life in Singapore under Japanese rule.
Return to your central Singapore hotel.
