About this trip

My recent trip to Zanzibar (with the safari) I think will be one of my most memorable experiences - a once in a lifetime opportunity. The itinerary was so carefully considered with the right balance of activities and I met amazing people. Thank you so much Abdiya and team 🥰🥰

I traveled with the Sisters Getaway Oct 14-19 2023. We began our retreat at a gorgeous retreat center, House of Light, in Bayacas, near Malaga. We ended the weeks touring the Alhambra with a wise and experienced guide.
All the conditions were great and more important, our Leaders were wonderful, giving us lots of time to learn, get to know each other, get exercise and relax. 
And we, our whole group of women, we were wonderful. How I miss you all!! I absolutely recommend this getaway for women. 

I have done more than one retreat with Sisters Getaway and can only thank them for the wonderful experiences I had, not to mention the wonderful ladies I met.
It was really well organised and the leaders are so kind and are there for anything one may need.
Don't think twice about participating on one of their retreats, you will love It!

I travelled with sisters getaway last year in September. It was one of my greatest experiences. I was able to meet people that i would have never cross paths with. I had a great time. The leaders were so understanding. It felt like a no judgement zone. I was able to build long lasting friendship with the girls. i highly recommend this for everyone.

A very thoughtfully crafted retreat. Excellent healthy food, fulfilling day to day activities including yoga, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, and sister’s circle. Accommodations were perfect and private.  Felt well taken care of every step of the way. Will definitely be looking to book another soon! 

May 24-30th to Granada, Spain

It was truly an unforgettable experience, the sisterhood bond that was forged on this trip will stay with me forever. It was wholesome, very fun, adventurous, and a spiritual reset. Highly recommend this retreat, and looking forward to going to more inshaAllah🤍

We  had  a  wonderful  experience  with  different  sisters 💕& wonderful  to connect with everyone who was unique in their  own  ways  .. food  was amazing  & so  😋yummy  ..It was beautiful up there in the mountains apart from weather  .. overall  all was  good  & the mentors were amazing  lovely souls  ❤️  thank you  to all  !!

Zanzibar with Sisters Getaway February 15-22

This trip was truly unforgettable! It was filled with adventures that kept us thrilled and engaged, along with interesting excursions that allowed us to explore and learn so much. We had the best company, making every moment more enjoyable and memorable. The amazing accommodation provided both comfort and luxury, ensuring a relaxing stay, and we were treated to very delicious food that delighted our taste buds every day.

Zanzibar with Sisters Getaway January 11-18th

This was that best trip ever and I‘ve met the best poeple that there is.  

This was my first solo trip abroad so I was nervous for a few reasons -will I get on with the group, is it as advertised, safety, etc.  From the moment I booked to post holiday, Abdiya and her team did a fantastic job of making sure I was happy and comfortable. It turned out to be an amazing trip where I made great friends in gorgeous landscapes. The food, activities, accomodation and hospitality of everyone we engaged with were all excellent. If there were any issues, I felt comfortable speaking to our group leaders who fixed things.  I'm so glad I didn't let my fear and nerves stop me from going and had such a great time, I'll be booking more trips in the future. Thank you Sisters Getaway team and my sister's for the amazing memories. 

Oct 26-Nov 1st Spain Sisters Getaway

The trip was amazing. Our group leaders were lovely, the retreat center was beautiful and serene and the food was fresh and delicious.

Sisters Getaway to Marrakech 29th September - 5th October

 I had a great time. Everything was very well organized, down to the smallest detail. I could just let go. The house in the mountains, the food there. I can't describe in words how beautiful and relaxing it was. Meeting sisters from all over the world: unique. Shereen and Sihrah, our leaders, you were the warmest people ever. You looked after us so lovingly. Thank you for everything. Before the trip I was worried that I might be too old for a retreat, after the trip I am so happy that I dared to step out of my comfort zone. I would book a retreat with Abdiya again and again. a great time

We had Ana amazing time, wonderful people, amazing food,  a lot of walking, a lot of laughter, a lot of bonding, and created long lasting memories. Def want to do it again Inshalla.

We had an amazing week of discovery and healing.  Enjoyed meeting locals, relaxing, laughter and creating new friendships.  We had great leaders on the trip Biba and Sarah who looked after us throughout the week. Already planning the next sisters retreat  and hopefully for more in the future. 

Hey salaam Nohaa! Thank you so much for your review! We so appreciate feedback and ways to improve trips for future participants. 
It's difficult to strike the balance between expectations of participants wanting to see everything and those that want to take things a little slower..so perhaps setting those expectations better or giving options when we can. 
In terms of religious activities, as we aren't a religious retreat we like to go off what people are asking for. So if you do join another retreat please let the leaders know that is something you'd like to do and that can be arranged. Also, I will remind future participants the same so that if there is a desire to pray together or do dhikr, which we do do on almost every retreat out of the interest of the group, then they can do that.

The trip was great! I think that it was a bit hectic with the constant touring and early mornings which was tiring and it became tough to rest and be energized the next morning. I do wish there was some form of religious activity, like praying together or doing dhikr sessions.

Thank you so much for your review and feedback and it was great to have a call with you this weekend. 

The vegetarian cuisine was disclosed clearly in our zoom meet-up.
And I reached out to you many times before the retreat with no success to have calls before the trip to speak things through and we really like to have good communication with our attendees as much as we can. 

We've never had anyone ask to get a taxi back from Alhambra as the walk is beautiful, downhill and in the shade and has some beautiful shops on the way down now but we will keep this in mind for future groups, by giving them the option and offering to cover taxi cost. 

We also spoke through the reasoning behind not including the airport drop-off as everyone is then free to leave Granada at a time that works for them or alternatively move on to another city. Also, even though it's not an expensive trip back, if we were to include and organise it would take cost up as it's a lot of admin in advance for us to find out what time and to where people want to go after their retreat. 

We will definitely offer the option of either having a pack lunch as soon as Alhambra tour finishes or wait an hour or two for lunch (as restaurants aren't open at the time you finished Alhambra).

I recently attended a 7-day retreat in Bayacas in La Alpujarra mountains and Granada, Spain, and had a wonderful overall experience. The stunning mountain views, the comfortable and clean retreat center, and the peaceful environment made the trip truly memorable. I enjoyed hiking in the mountains, exploring local villages, and learning about the Islamic history of the region. The yoga, breathwork, and creative writing sessions were fantastic, and the leaders were incredibly supportive throughout the trip. I also made many connections with the other sisters and am so grateful for the experiences I shared with them. A highlight for me was having access to the private salt pool, which I used daily—it was a unique and refreshing experience.

However, there were a few areas for improvement. The retreat center being vegetarian was not disclosed in advance, which was disappointing for many attendees who expected a more varied menu that included meat options. The remote location in the mountains meant we were unable to leave or explore on our own, something we wish we had been informed about beforehand. While the ladies and I organized a beach trip ourselves, a dedicated day for a water activity would have been a great addition to the schedule.

Some logistical issues could also be addressed. The packed lunch for example after the Alhambra visit seemed unnecessary since we were already settled city, and it would have been better suited for the bus ride back from the mountains to Granada city and the lunch at the restaurant in Granada after arriving from the mountains would have been better suited after the Alhambra tour instead. I genuinely loved the Alhambra Palace tour, but it was disappointing that transportation was provided there but not back, requiring us to walk 30 minutes in the heat or pay out of pocket to get a taxi back to the hotel.

Lastly, transportation was provided from Malaga Airport to the mountains but not for the return trip, which felt inconsistent, especially when coach bus tickets are only about 16 euros. Additionally, covering the extra taxi fare to the bus station would have also been appreciated.

Overall, the retreat had many beautiful and enriching aspects, and I’m grateful for the connections and experiences I had with each and every sister that attended! With some improvements in planning and communication, it could be even better.

This trip came through in the perfect time. So grateful to have come across this amazing retreat via instagram. Incredible memories and beautiful souls to call friends. Can't wait to book my next trip inshallah. 

Marrakech Retreat June 9-15th with Yaz

I had an amazing time, meeting like-minded sisters from around the world and connecting with them over the week. I came back feeling rejuvenated and inspired. The organisers were brilliant, they had planned everything so perfectly from start to finish and took everyone’s needs into account. Thank you 

I had an amazing time, enjoying the peacefulness in the country side and the liveliness when we were in the city. The activities were all fun and  meaningful .

It was the most incredible week of my life!. I did everything I wanted to do from 1 trip!. Pottery classes, hiking, and camel riding in the desert. We even jumped on a horse and carriage at the end to do shopping 😄 it was so much fun with wonderful women around the world. Alhamdulillah for this experience and for meeting women who have similar interests as me. I have been inspired to search for pottery classes in London and to climb more mountains insha Allah. The hike was the best experience of my life. And the views of the Agafay desert were amazing. A big thank you to the organisers for bringing this together, accomodating our interests into the retreat and for looking after us. 

This trip was truly life changing. It was amazing to make lifelong bonds with Muslim sisters from all over the world. In addition to gaining a sisterhood, this trip left me feeling rejuvenated and content. 

May 19-25th The Digital Sisterhood Retreat to Morocco

Beautiful retreat centre- Abdiya didn't miss a beat when selecting the accommodation! 

I had an absolute Amazing time, which exceeded my expectations! 

You could feel the warmth of the sisterhood in the air, which of course includes the leaders, who were so lovely 😍. 

I enjoyed the food/activities/thoroughly enjoyed the yoga with Sumaya. What can i say regarding the water fall hiking...WOW! 
Surroundings of the retreat centre, just Beautiful! I finally got to lay on the hammack... 
 I would of kicked myself if i hadn't experienced that! LOL.
 Engaging in conversation with the staff 😍 
Mostly, connecting with sister's really touched my ❤️ Inshallallah we'll cross paths again! We are keeping in touch via Instagram and WhatsApp.

The trip to Spain with Sister’s Getaway was truly wonderful! I got to meet women I would otherwise have not met and that was a pure joy. I learned so much from each of the women and it was a very empowering experience for me. Each person being a gem, shining rays of light on my life. 
The yoga was great and there were options for me as a beginner to still do the movements at my level.
The breathwork made me realize that I take very small and shallow breaths and that I need to make better use of the full capacity of my lungs. Such techniques, I believe, get more oxygen flowing through your veins! I was able to think deeply and reflect. 
The creative writing sessions helped us tap into our thoughts and memories. There was no pressure to share but those who chose to share really touched my heart with their stories.
I’m not a vegetarian but I love vegetables and the various ways in which they were cooked was delicious while at House of Light. 
The hikes in the beautiful mountain were amazing and the conversations with newly made friends even more so. 
Thank you to the Sister’s Getaway team for all your efforts! May God increase you in baraka.

It was ny first ever solo trip and I was a bit scared about how it would go.but alhumdolillah I couldn't have been more happier .it was just like the dream vacation. I didn't have to worry about anything. They took care of everything. I would definitely recommend it to people 

Marrakech Retreat February 18-24th

A genuinely amazing experience, life changing without a doubt! i’ve had more experiences over the week than the last few years and have genuinely made some forever friends (i hope!!)
I wish i could’ve spent the full week at bab zouina retreat centre, it was blissfully peaceful and i’ve never disconnected so much before
100/10 experience that i would without a doubt do again 

Trip of a lifetime. Everything was planned for our relaxation and comfort. The leaders were calm and confident, allowing us to truly rest our minds and not worry about anything. Excellent mix of free time and planned activities, with no pressure to do more than we wanted. It was a truly blessed and unique experience that I will continue to grow from for the rest of my life.

Amazing group! The itinerary was thoughtfully curated, offering a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Not only did I get to explore Marrakech and all it's gems, but I also had the opportunity to connect with women from around the world.  I highly recommend Sister's Getaway for anyone looking for a memorable and hassle-free adventure with like-minded Muslim women. :)

The Digital Sisterhood Retreat to Morocco

I loved this trip, it was so refreshing to be amongst nature and have a digital detox. It was just what I needed! The hike was scary, so I’m glad to have made it out alive!! I definitely made friends for life though, and would recommend the retreat to others.
