About this trip

A 7 day immersion in one of the world’s great sacred landscapes

A group immersion in one of the most extraordinary sacred landscapes ever created by a human civilisation.

Held near Siem Reap, the retreat is centred around the vast temple complex of Angkor Wat , the heart of the ancient Khmer Empire and the largest religious monument in the world.

Angkor is not a single temple, but an entire sacred city temple system, constructed between the 9th and 15th centuries at the height of the Khmer civilisation. It was designed as a living cosmological map , where architecture, astronomy, spirituality, and kingship were interwoven into stone and landscape.

Like the pyramids of Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru, or Teotihuacan in Mexico, Angkor stands as a civilisation scale expression of meaning . A place where spiritual worldview was encoded into physical form on an immense scale.

Walking through Angkor today, you move through layered time. Jungle reclaims stone corridors. Faces carved into Bayon watch silently across centuries. Light passes through empty galleries that once held ritual, procession, and devotion. The landscape itself becomes a field of reflection.

This retreat is a slow, guided immersion into that field.

Rather than moving quickly between sights, you are invited into a different tempo of experience , where place, rhythm, and attention become the practice itself.

It is a carefully held experiential container for people who are already on an inward path, and who feel drawn to sacred place, depth, and integration.

The retreat is guided and held by James Elphick bringing the Slow Paradise approach, shaping rhythm, attention, and integration throughout the week so that experience is not accumulated, but absorbed.

The Invitation.

This retreat is for those who:

  • Feel drawn to sacred sites and culturally significant landscapes

  • Already have experience with inner work, reflection, or meditation

  • Are willing to feel what unfolds from the experience.

  • Value depth, slowness, and integration over stimulation or travel intensity

  • Are comfortable with spaciousness, silence, and reflective time

What makes this retreat distinct

This is not a conventional retreat or cultural tour.

It is built around three living elements:

Slow rhythm

Guided field

Together, these create a contained experiential field where perception naturally slows and deepens.
